welcome to the forum cubed, yep you’re in the right place The things you mention have been discussed at length in here – have a bit of a search of the forums and you’ll see what I mean
ld50Memberand much appreciated, thanks very much
ld50MemberSeconded – you’ll be able to check it’s all groovy with a hanyes. I have, it then ran ok.
ld50MemberChris i know it sounds obvious but does the water return to the header tank as you’d expect? (i.e. the rate at which the coolant returns goes up and down with the revs too).
I had soemthing similar on me syncro and after several weeks of hair-pulling-out it was just a small blockage on the rad return feed.
ld50MemberYeah it’s odd actually because that subframe nicely chews up most of the mega ground clearance it looks to gain by the lift.
ld50MemberMy 87′ gti has no power steering and 195x45x15s and it’s a bitch to park – not too bad for me but my missus can hardly drive it (has its upsides though).
ld50Memberyeah tbh as long as they’re decent quality scans (about 200dpi should do it) we can store oodles of JPEGs and also tag them etc – and then they can be converted at lesiure. TBH the scans as jpgs would be more use to me than pdfs but storing both isn’t a major problem in any case
ld50Memberactually – it was the fact that I had to drive to holland to get a sodding 020 box which made us start the site as I recall… so in fact, soapboxing actually justified.
The irony was that there evidently were plenty of them in the uk – since now you can hardly give them away…
ld50Memberbrentacre – vw specialists, been with them for years with all mods declared – they actually offered to give 5% discount to members when I spoke to them about it aaages ago…maybe that’s our first discount?
ld50Memberalso true – and I guess it doesn’t necessarily hasve to be perfect first time…just *some8 discounts owuld already be good I guess
ld50Memberok you might want to look at the two links in the second post on this page…that’s the full break down do what to do and what parts are needed…
ld50Memberyep – agreed, but then the issue is how does it work with our members the other side of the pond – why should they pay (at a harsh exchange rate) to get a discount on clubgti in the uk or get a discount from uk insurance suppliers. And to then start negotiating worldwide discounts on things is also straying from the point slightly and creates extra admin.
Throughout all of this I think it’s fair to assume we’d all rather be working on our syncros than phoning insurance companies – and actually that’s what this site was supposed to help with…which it does
Hence we ended up just doing “donate if you like – it is what it is”…
ld50Memberok I thnk i fixed the photos chris – i did post about it but it’s on the wrong thread somewhere I think.
In any case I’ve just done a bit more housekeeping on the site – sorting out redundant links and updating existing ones etc. I also fixed a script bug which meant firefox users wouldn’t be able to see the photos so that should all work a bit better now too
ld50MemberFor reference (and in lieu of a bar graph) we’ve had about £45 so far which is already very helpful – so thanks again to all
ld50Memberok – think that’s those links sorted chris – any others?
