Guys, I need you advice….
As told I bought my Country with prop shaft removed and in 2 pieces, front part apart from middle and read parts. Have been cleaning and greasing those CV joints and need to fix those 3 shafts into one. I known those left/right drive shafts with CV joints need cloking, but how about prop shaft, do I need to figure out how those 2 CV joints need to be aligned with each others? Also how about fixing prop shaft front part to middle/read part, these is those “weight” pieces in propshaft as in attached photo, do they need to be in same side of each prop shaft parts lined or are there any marks how aligning need to be done or does it mather at all?
Thanks in advance…..

hessuParticipantThanks Chris.
hessuParticipantThanks, need to search if any manuals for the Golf mk2 syncro avaialble.
When i bought this car from previous owner, he said only thing which is not working is 4WD, this happens already back in 2010 and he said he think failure was VC but was not 100% sure, just said no visible oil leaks or anything nearby VC. New VC was roughly around 1000Euros in Finland back in 2010 so he decided to remove prop shaft and use car as FWD.
Overally I’m familiar with car technics quite well, but gearbox and VC related 4WD are new for me. Goal for the winter time is remove everything under subframe, sand blast them and powder coat, drop engine, gearbox and read end with VC down, open and check those, repair if needed, so manual would be nice.
Are there any way to check if VC is ok or not when it’s removed from car, I mean without opening it and check plates and silicone oil amount?
One option is I repair prop shaft bearing now using Mercedes W124 parts, install shaft back to car and shortly test drive to see if read end is working or not, possible if any abnormal voice coming from anywhere etc.
hessuParticipantGreetings Sycnrofans from Finland, somehow found this Forum and this specific Thread when searching alternative prop shaft bearings to my Golf mk2 Country. Have been reading this thread all single posts, great reading and incredible work Lloydy! Currently restoring my own red Country, a bit terrified about the work load needed but we have a long winter time ahead so car is tear down then and hope back to road next summer.
Does anyone known if there is good Service or repair manual available anywhere for Golf Country?
regards
