this link shows what you should have in the rear diff
Again I would suggest you contacet lloydy as he may be able to help out
Chris SModeratorThe magnetic switch is actually located on the rear diff,
2. This …spin rear wheels by hand, in rearward direction, the front wheels must be driven in a rearward direction, by the driveshaft. Result was…front wheels didn’t move anywhere
This sounds like your VC unit has packed up, that is apart from any other possible faults/problems
lloydy may have a spare VC that he might sell?
I will find the rear axle drawings (on here somewhere) & post them
Chris SModeratorYes, it works for me on my desktop, but buffers/freezes in places
Chris SModeratorChris SModeratorHi Dan, Welcome on board, would you like to start a build thread?
they are very helpful to people attempting to do the same
BTW where are you basedChris SModeratorUnfortunately the 3 part propshaft is balanced (at the Factory) as a single unit, I.E. after it is bolted together
I don’t know how or where you could get it rebalanced,So unless the previous owner has marked the 2 flanges?
you have a 25% chance of it being correct when you bolt it together,Are there any other marks on the flanges or even the shafts themselves which may indicate which way it fits?
mind you it is not as critical as wheel balancing as the radial force in comparison is minisculebtw how would you feel about starting another thread of your own, detailing your rebuild?
I think it might be better than just tagging on to the end of this thread.Chris S
Chris SModeratorChris SModeratorOne option is I repair prop shaft bearing now using Mercedes W124 parts, install shaft back to car and shortly test drive to see if read end is working or not, possible if any abnormal voice coming from anywhere etc.
this is probably your best bet
Chris SModeratorI think I may have a gearbox/drive train/rear diff manual here, will look later for you
Chris SModeratorAccording to this it is from a CSR gearbox
which would make it from a VR6 gearbox
Chris SModeratorLooked on eBay.de but only complete gearboxes, at 500 to 600 euros + postage
Chris SModeratorBrilliant work, its big daft smile on your face time!

Chris SModeratorit is not usually the switch body which wears out but the small return springs rust out & the internal electric connections get dirty & no longer connect to make the circuit(s).
Good idea though, there must be lots more NLA small plastic parts that could be 3D printed?
