They are available from ATE as aftermarket parts. Don’t know if any of you have access to an ATE distributor/reseller though. I have been trying to find someone here in Canada or the USA to supply them, but no luck so far.
Here are the ATE Numbers (short number in brackets):
Golf/Jetta Mk2 Syncro
24.0711-1109.3 (360001)Passat Syncro 88-96

w/72mm brg 24.0711-1198.3 (360014)If this helps someone find a lower cost alternative, plese reply here & let us know where you found them.

Yes, I guess I could swim over, but I wouldn’tmake it by next weekend.[:p]
Danny, If you are willing to cut the part out and trim it down a bit, I’ll check into the best method for shipping and get back to you. Any idea how much you want for the part, and do you accept PAYPAL?
1.8TsyncroB3MemberBummer that you suffer a failure when you are actually carrying spares that are too complicated to swap on the spot!
When you are at Wilco’s place. If you happen to bump into Marcel, tell him I say Hello! [] I’m working on locating a US spec bumper for him at the moment and I think I’ve found one NIB.
1.8TsyncroB3MemberNutter, I’ll get in contact with my friend to see if there has been any further progress on the billet 02M angle drive.
1.8TsyncroB3MemberGlad you found the post! I was considering posting a link here, but you got to it before me!
I’m going to have to create a library of all the syncro tech questions I’ve answered. I keep finding myself answering similar questions repeatedly over the years.
1.8TsyncroB3MemberThat is just the floor panel, there are a lot of other sheetmetal parts needed to complete the conversion if you want to do it right.
1.8TsyncroB3MemberLOL, the owner/originator has to ask for his topics back! ROTFL [][][:p]
Pun intended!!!
1.8TsyncroB3MemberNo need to fight it out. I’m not desperate, but would hate to see the boot floor get crushed rather than salvaged.
redz, you are welcome to the boot floor if you are able to make the arrangements. If Not, I will contact the scrapy next week to see if they would cut it out and ship to Canada.
1.8TsyncroB3MemberWhere are you located?
1.8TsyncroB3MemberI’d be there in a flash if I didn’t have all that water to cross[]Maybe I could tie a few logs together and float it back home[][]
1.8TsyncroB3MemberDo any of the cast iron angle drives have the oil passages, or are they all the early style that require their own oil? I’ve seen several of them, but never out of a car and I was wondering if they can be fitted to the newer 02C gearboxes.
1.8TsyncroB3MemberNutter, this is on your Haldex equipped Rallye right? Are you running the 02M 6 speed or a 02C 5 speed with the Special Skoda Angle drive to match the Haldex? I seem to recall something about you running a 5-speed.
I’ve heard that the Angle drive on the 02M 6 speed is the weak link and under high power it will split the housing. You are the first that I’ve actually seen with this problem though. There is a guy in the US that is tooling up for a stronger billet aluminum angle drive case that will accept all the factory internals, but only for the 02m 6-speed set-up. nothing for the 5-speed 02C angle drive.
1.8TsyncroB3MemberAny 02C will fit as long as you use the matching Angle drive. All the Passat G60 Syncros used the 02C cable shift gearbox, and it is essentially the same as the Rallye box except that you may get different ratios. I would assume that you have a better chance of finding a cheap Passat gearbox than a Rallye box.
1.8TsyncroB3MemberGive us more details! I’m about to go Haldex with big turbo and would like to know what and how I’m going to break things!
1.8TsyncroB3MemberPassat G60 syncro also used the same box. The ratios vary depending on the code on the gearbox, but they are physically the same.
