They are available from ATE as aftermarket parts. Don’t know if any of you have access to an ATE distributor/reseller though. I have been trying to find someone here in Canada or the USA to supply them, but no luck so far.

Here are the ATE Numbers (short number in brackets):

    Golf/Jetta Mk2 Syncro
    24.0711-1109.3 (360001)

    Passat Syncro 88-96
    Golf Mk3 Syncro
    w/68mm brg 24.0711-1135.3 (360003)
    w/72mm brg 24.0711-1198.3 (360014)

If this helps someone find a lower cost alternative, plese reply here & let us know where you found them.

Hi I am sure I remember reading a post about someone getting in touch with an parts supplier and being qouted over £100 per sensor :(

Does the bearing size really make a diff to the sensor? as I thought the ABS ring was the same size on all models?

    Have found this catoloue:

    http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/com/en/ate/ate/themes/80_download/10_papercatalogs/download/ATE_RS1_wheel_speed_sensors_2007_english.pdf

It tallys up with your figures, except I am not convinced that the bearing size change is a factor. Does anyone know if there was change in ABS system?

The ABS ring is the same size on all models, but the larger bearing pushes the sensor housing further out so the sensors have to be longer to sit at the same distance from the sensor ring.

That is the same catalog I pulled the numbers from.
