i’ve got an AGG camshaft here, it’ll fit but you would have to check how it compares to

They fit and work but are very bad idea for a daily driver, solid lifter cam’s generally have more agressive lift ramps and hold the valve open for longer than the hydro equivalent but the lobe tip on a hydro cam is ground to turn the tappet in it’s bore but this is not so with a solid lifter cam, so it will trash the tappets relativly quick.

but if your racing in a class where you have to use standard engines and parts it’s a usefull trick to gain a bit more.

the camshaft from a PB enigne ( post 86 gti hydro tappets ) will drop in with no problems and give a small gain

rallye driveshafts have 100mm cv joints rod change box has 90mm flanges. they will fit if you change the flanges to 100mm or the cv’s to 90mm

Try some of that for a proper enviro-car.

Personally I’d take the view that as the largest environmental cost of any car is during the build then running elderly Golfs is a very sound thing to do. We should redo the the site with an environmental theme to celebrate, or something…..

As said Audi a2 gears are tougher than stock ones, after that it’s aftermarket and custom ones, any good gearbox builder should be able to point you in the right direction.
It all depends how much of the syncro system you want to retain and how unlimited the unlimited funds are, it may be worth looking at the gearbox Ford are using in there Fiesta rally car as that has a viscous 4wd system that it may be possible to transplant.
I think Haldex will be the cheapest option mainly due to the drivetrain being so availible and for very little money, also in theory my ecu should be able to control it.

Well we don’t know how strong haldex is yet, there were rumors that it could take 800 bhp but nothing said about torque, and there are so few cars running it so there haven’t been meany breakages yet, and its still unknown, but it’s probably likely to be around the 500 mark.

As for what the syncro system can handle and to what extent it can be upgraded entirely depends on what the car is doing. high speed cross contry or road races will break gears, Audi a2 turbo gears are stronger but they are very good till 300 but after that keeping the power on while airborn is a big no no, especially in 3rd, for drag racing the back diff and angel drive get it, there is suposed to a skoda setup thats tougher but how tough is anyones guess.

I would have thought changing the ratio would be a bad idea, it will either wind up or cause huge parasitic losses slow you down and break something. tho it could also work the other way round so you would need more slip on the front wheels before the rear diff trys to put power down.

anyways I guess your enigne is making about 550 -560 at the fly that is really to much for an 02c box, lots of potential for giving haldex problems there as well, I think you should be looking at the quattro torsten system
