that car has a lot of potential :) ppl here in the uk go silly for 3door syncros IMO it needs an ABF not a 9A :)

if you replace the doughnut with a solid metal item. you’ll get problems. it’ll give the gearbox bearings merry hell as theine trys to move about, it’ll also give the prop bearings and cv joint merry hell.

if you want to loose the doughnut it can be replaced with a cv joint but that requires you to cut the end off the prop and weld the end section of a frount driveshaft in, and attach a drive flange to the transfer case. i looked into doing this when mine tore the doughnut and prop up

you could put 280’s on the rear but TBH i cannot see the point in doing it even with 450+bhp

I have a couple of std syncro gearboxes and transfer cases in the shed :)
drop me an email with your phone number if intrested.

for parts, VeeW services in bristol come highly recomended by me, they have have been well trained in the art of finding syncro parts or sutable replacements for the ones that arn’t avalible and they will post stuff. ask for matt (aka beavis) and say danny sent you

it a lot better to push off the shaft in thr center, tighernign bolts down on the the ali box caseing dosne’t sound optimal, i rember how much effort it took to get my drive flange off

You should get the circlips and covers with a seal kit, which is available from most third party parts suppliers.

The flanges can take a LOT of pulling off. I would recommend a proper three arm puller to get them off.
