HouseyParticipant
well. this didn’t work… the abs pump starts to run. but the abs it self does not work
so, this could be one of 3
1. Defective ABS ECU
2. you can’t use the ABS/EDL unit with ABS only ecu/harness
3. broken harness ( this is by the looks of it mint)my bet would be on either nr 1 or 2…
GODDAMNIT!!!!
HouseyParticipantoperation “change the ABS harness”
Reason: the passat harness isn’t quite good enough when it comes to fitment for me, so i’m changing it back to the original golf one, tidying up an already cramped enginebay
The EDL function will be lost, but i don’t care, don’t need it way more fun without it. (since the brakes are applied when the tires are spinning below 40kph)first, a pic from when the passat harness is installed, as you can se, its a ****load of wires. which makes me cry when i see it
heres the passat abs harness taken out, took me about 10 minutes to remove it. only 1 wire need to be cut, this is a black/yellow wire from the fusebox to the abs relay
this pic is taken with most of the golf abs harness installed. the rear is back together, all i need is to route the power/gnd wores trough the firewall, and resoldier the black/yellow wire
got tired when this was done, but, heres a pic with the rear seat back in place where it should be. all wires beyond here is now routed in the appropriate way, i even ran the power-cable for my stereo amplifier when i did this
this was all i did today, did not finish it, but will do that tomorrow, and test the abs to make sure it works
HouseyParticipantbut, it should work as normal, without the edl? great, i don’t need EDL and i want to tidy up the wiring, which is friggin impossible with the passat harness
so. i’ll have a working passat ABS/EDL harness with ECU for sale in a while then its been tested, and it works as it should
HouseyParticipantgot myself a new backseat today. with head-rests. its completly mint, its been covered by a leather seatcover. the cover didnt look very good, but the seat underneath is extremly mint
two pics. they are actually darker then this, but the flash makes them bright
HouseyParticipantokei, i’m using the edl MC today, with the passat harness, which does’t quite fit the golf, making a ****ing wire mess besides the MC. thought, if i was able to use the original golf harnes, leaving out the EDL function of the MC. would make a ****load of a neater engine bay its already cramped beyond recognition in there now
HouseyParticipantjust thinking out loud here..
would it be possible to use the original golf GT ABS harness? eventho i’m using the passat abs unit? its too damn many wires on the side of my abs unit as it is..
the EDL is not needed at all, so, the golf harness does not have this plug, but the abs unit would operate as it should anyways? shouldnt it?
HouseyParticipanti havent even been to the garage these last days. i’m getting lazy i guess. or just need a break from cars for a few days i’m sure i’m back on the syncro tomorrow
HouseyParticipantbeen driving and thats just about all i’ve done havent even opened the hood. no problems at all
HouseyParticipantdamn, i’ve got one ugly golf ohwell, it will be better with time
only reason to actually keep this body, is because its a syncro, and because it only has 3 doors
anyhow, took some crappy pics of my ugly car while out driving today
and one i took while driving, so, it turned out real bad lol
HouseyParticipanti know how its done no problem there, its just ****ty work
HouseyParticipantkinda regret that i didn’t change the boot that sits from the firewall to the steering rack when the car was out
god damn that sucks to do when the engine is IN the car. well, boot is on, and the linkage is mounted in the enginebay now, only thing missing is getting the steering column back on the linkage, damn spring under there, makes things about 9million times harder. anyhow. will be finished with this tomorrow
maybe i will now reduce the noise from the engine into the coupè now
HouseyParticipantrented myself some onetime plates this weekned, for the 15th and 16th so. more testing will be done love it
HouseyParticipanthaha, don’t want to **** the thread up with my fuggly big grin
HouseyParticipantfew pics of a dirty and multicolored car lol
HouseyParticipantoh ok. well, mine has the oilways built into it
