ModeratorYes, you do need an under floor in line high pressure pump as well as the low pressure in tank pump.

ModeratorIf you have a Syncro Carburettor tank unit & want to run injection.
You will need a 2wd injection in tank unit (complete)
from which you use the tank fitting & fuel pump. From the Syncro carb unit you use the fuel gauge sender & pick up depth piece, which you modify by fitting the electric fuel pump & strainer, Just make sure the final depth is the same as the carb unit.

I’ve started to take my rear differential to bits just to see if I think I’m up to doing it by following your excellent images. If I give up, I may send you a box of bits. [
]So far I’ve removed the casing bolts and have slightly split the case. I’ve also removed the two driveshaft flanges, and the solenoid unit.
I’ll have a look at your photos again and build a shopping list of tools to buy.
Looking through your images, I can see the 41mm socket / spanner that you have made to remove the locknut. I wonder if the following spanner could be used:

Hey Trev,
The 41mil Draper spanner looks fine to me, however, you might need to flex off a little from the outside all the way round the 41mil socket to fit it into the housing, it all depends on how thick the spanner is, but think you will be OK with that.
As Derrik pointed out, the Hex bolt is 17mil.
If any questions arise, give me a yell (might be a hard Yell to hear it over here all the way from Norway [
] )All the best,
Norway????

ModeratorThat sounds a good idea!
btw the actual pump is the same unit as fitted to the Rallye.

ModeratorYes but VW ETKA writes it as D 003500 & won’t read it without the space between the D & the 00

ModeratorAs I was working “in the dark” I put my slots in centrally,
that was based on the idea that I did not want the bolthead falling out of the end of the guide when it was rotated.
As far as I can recall all the slots were positioned centrally, there is no reason to offset them.

ModeratorGiven this http://howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/volkswagen_jetta_syncro – there appear to be only 11 RHD Jetta Syncro models left, thats 3 licensed & 8 sorned.
We know who 2 of them are owned by thats 1 sorned (just sold on here)+ 1 status unknown (jsync), that only leaves 9 in the entire UK, so I wouldn´t expect to see one coming up on ebay UK anytime in the near future, have you considered a LHD version
