ModeratorThe Shoes are the same & thats a good find, but are the Drums the same as ETKA has a different part number?
Chris S
ModeratorRear Diff Vacuum & electric wiring
nr 16 is an air vent & goes into the wiring harness sheathing to prevent any foreign bodies (I.E. muck)from getting in.
The 3 ball res is mounted under the left hand front wing.
nr 4 the non return valve can be connected to any vacuum spigot on the inlet manifold.
This is the layout from the carburettor motor to the bulkhead mounted green ball res (which is then connected to the 3 ball res & rear diff via the non return valve, the green line is the important Syncro one) but if you are running a Diesel you can just connect it to a take off on the the inlet manifold.

ModeratorYes, my chipped Syncro with the same engine as in the Country always passes the Emission control part of the test.

ModeratorThis one then 191 827 515 – Tailgate
Chris S
ModeratorBrilliant! & for the outers they need slightly filing so they match the mounts see photos
When you see the difference in size compared to the original bushes you may wonder if you really need aftermarket poly bushes.
Chris S
ModeratorOK, looking in ETKA for you
535 955 453 – Washer bottle
1K6 955 651 – Pump
701 823 737 – Scuttle Rubber
191 819 098A – Vent cover or as VW call it a Foliage Grillthe rear door lock bars that connect the lock to the catch inside the tailgate, rear door or tailgate?
191 827 515 – Tailgate
Chris S
ModeratorDo you have any part numbers for the other stuff you need?
Chris S
ModeratorWith a tick over of 2000 rpm its more likely to be either an air leak or your isv
there is a new isv here for not a lot of money
Chris S
ModeratorYes fire away, they are listed as 230mm X 40mm & that is correct for the G2 Syncro
Chris S
ModeratorSorry Dave, somehow I missed your last post.
the std Syncro box already has the Diesel ratios but you would be better off buying the complete mk 3 Syncro box

ModeratorHappy Birthday to us! We are 10 years old (on line) Today,
I dread to think the number of people worldwide who would have scrapped their Syncro if we had not have been here to help,
This might sound silly, but apart from family, commitments etc, I consider this site to be one of the better things I have done with my life & yes I am very proud of it & us all!
This site was started when someone (LD50) in England could not find a Golf 2 Syncro rod change gearbox, they went on VW Vortex & my name cropped up when jman in America suggested that he might be better looking in Europe rather than America & said to contact me,
At that time I had only just bought my first G2 Syncro & what a disaster that was!
if it could leak out of somewhere then it leaked, the cooling water leaked, the washer water leaked, the power steering fluid leaked, the engine oil leaked, the gearbox oil leaked & even the transfer box & rear diff were showing signs of weeping!
at that time I could have bought a same year comparable 2WD 140 bhp 16 valver for about 2/3rds of the price of this,& I was on a big big learning curve, as almost nothing I knew about the Golf 2 was applicable to the Syncro,
when I was contacted from the UK via Vortex about a gearbox, long story short yes, I could find one & ld50 came over with his father to collect it,
it was then suggested that ‘WE’ set the site up as there was very little to no knowledge over golf Syncro models anywhere.
Hopefully we have managed to change that? -
