First drain the old oil and see if it contains more metal than the usual grey christmas tree on the drain plug magnet, if its normal try an oil change using a quality synthetic oil, capacity is 1H motorcode (Rallye)

Only the Rallye uses the offset inner bushes, all the other Syncro versions use 4 of the cheaper central bore mounting bushes.

At 23:30 BST tonight (Saturday) I got start 259 kb/sec, it momentarily jumped to 609 then settled to 409 kb/sec which it mantained till the end.

To confirm you have a GTI head just measure the diameter of the inlet valve as
