I am going to my local scrappy tomorrow or Wednesday, I will have a look if they have anything suitable.
Chris SModeratorSorted
Chris SModeratorFrom where I am standing that shouldnt be too much of a problem!
do you want the PL or KR loom?
Chris SModeratorbtw, What condition are your grey carpets in?
Chris SModeratorQuote.
There was also a clear tube which appeared to be connected to the side of the electrical connector. This went down the shroud into the loom with the wiring. I guessed that this was the vacuum connection and also disconnected it from the diff. The tube promptly fell out of the loom shroud… It’s just a clear piece of thin tube about 6 inches long which looks like it has been trapped or cut.Its the vacuum breather and its tuckinto the loom to stop muck getting into the diafragm and wrecking it.
The 4 wires are in no particular order
1) pos into the pump
2) neg earth to the pump
3) neg earth in to the float sender
4) neg earth out from the sender to the fuel gaugeI think the 3 wire ones must combine the neg earth feed in to the pump with the sender feed.
Chris SModeratorYes the sticker should also be there on a Syncro.
I just looked at your photo & both my brother in law & my step daughter have 1991 golf 2 in blue, luckily enough they both live within 5 kilometers of me here in Emmeloord, I will post photos & paint codes of their cars this week []
Chris SModeratorI have a spare 02C transfer box bracket here, shall I get it in the post to you?
btw there is no way that the 020 one will fitChris SModeratorHere is what is probably a partial list of VW blue colour codes from the relevent time, always assuming that it is a VW colour, btw the 1st car is a 1990 Golf GTI G60 (2wd) first registered on 08-04-90
01.08.1987 >> 31.07.1992
COLOUR PAINT CODE
CAPRI BLUE K5E
MARINE BLUE A5B
MEDIUM BLUE H5G
ORLY BLUE METALLIC — P5Z — I know its not this one
SLATE BLUE H5V
STAR BLUE METALLIC D5TChris SModeratorThere is no 1 step back its all positive.
A lambda does not always mean a cat, anything before 1993 can legally run on the road without a cat (well over here in Holland anyway) all a lambda sonde does is act as a final control over the fuel system to ensure that the mixture is within acceptable levels, I.E as near to the optimum fuel air ratio as possible.
p.s. Modern high compression ratio engines will not stand pinking so the air fuel ratio HAS to be at or very near the optimum ratio, and with a tuning chip to slightly richen the mixture this can only be improved .
Chris SModeratorYou will need 8 plates in total that 1 each for both sides of the 4 bolts
Chris SModerator#2 Where does the vacuum pipe go that runs to the front and back to the rear diff? I have a T piece at the bulkhead but no connecting pipe. Any ideas?
yes the T piece goes to the 3 ball res under the left front wing & down to the rear diff, the 3rd connection is vacuum in.
Chris SModeratorI just about managed to fiddle it out on mine, being LHD it is just possible without dropping the exhaust.
Chris SModeratorbtw Your Passat throttle body should fit on the manifold as they both have the same gasket listed p/n 028 129 748
Chris SModeratorwhat year is the GTI? I may have a 120/125 bhp chip for it.
Chris SModeratorYou are correct in every detail, there is no way this will fit to the right hand drive Golf 2,
if you really want to fit ABS I suggest you start looking at the Golf 3 as this had a totally different ABS system fitted to the RHD cars the MARK20-I ATE, this was available in 2 versions normal ABS or ABS + EDL, and looking at the drawings in ETKA it would appear to fit without to many problems as it is a totally seperate unit, and the master cylinder servo unit sits in its normal RHD place and the ABS unit sits across on the left hand side of the bulkhead over the gearbox. -
