ModeratorYes they are.

ModeratorThe primary choke is the one that opens first and the 4 jet assemblies are shown inbetween the 2 chokes in your 2nd photo,
to remove just unscrew them with a good fitting screwdriver (they are made of brass and are very soft and easily damaged)Jet Sizes

Main Jet 117
Air corrector 145
Emulsion tube f30
Idle jet 55Secondary Choke

ModeratorSo can I use Syncro driveshafts with G60 brakes? – yes
Are the arbs thicker on a Rallye? – yes
Are the driveshafts or cvjs stronger? – Front yes, rears are same
Can I use Syncro wishbones? – yes

ModeratorApart from the obviously different bodyshell, the main difference is the cable change gearbox, fitted instead of the rod change on the lesser powered models, & the front driveshafts will need to be changed as well to suit the box, there are slight mods to the propshaft as well, but you can live without them. ModeratorPlease ignore the yelloe wire that runs across the picture from left to right as is is not connected with the reverse switch in any way.

ModeratorThose extra bits look suspiciously like the VW 1500/1800 fitting kit,
so all you should need extra is a spot of sealant just in case the VW rubber base gasket leaks with being disturbed,
after all it has been sat quietly for 20 years on the top of the inlet manifold. [

ModeratorI have a spare Digi 1 G60 ECU here, (I think?)
As standard it should run 0.5 CO2 without any problemsChris S
ModeratorIncrease the tickover on a warmed up engine to 1000 rpm without the A/C running, this should compensate enough to allow for the rev drop when the A/C is turned on.
Chris S
ModeratorThe condition, mot etc all affect price, a couple of photos would help to estimate a value.
Chris S
ModeratorI dont know, it really depends on the diameter of your spring perches
Chris S
ModeratorAny rear calipers from the Golf2 through to the golf4 (& comparable year Passat)will fit, its the Syncro caliper carriers that are the difficult part to get hold of.
Chris S
ModeratorYes they will fit, but the spring perch is a touch to low and will rub on the tyre, also they are to underdamped to control the weight difference between the Golf 1 and the Golf2 Syncro rear ends (photo to follow)
Tyre rubs on spring perch

I made some spacer rings so they would clear

as fitted

ModeratorTO REMOVE THE DRUMS, DO YOU PUT A SCREW DRIVER IN THE WHEEL BOLT HOLE TO RELEASE A SMALL WEDGE LIKE THE STANDARD CARS ?
why not fit rear discs?
TO REMOVE THE REAR SHOKERS, DO YOU HAVE TO UNDO THE BRAKE PIPE TO RELEASE THE SUSPENTION UNIT ? No
ALSO ON A UNRELATED SUBJECT. IN A PREVIOUS THREAD IT WAS MENTIONED YOU COULD WELD THE VISCOUP AT THE REAR DIFF TO MAKE THE CAR 4WD ALL THE TIME ???This is not a good idea, you might get 5 miles before something expensive broke and left you sat at the side of the road
HAS ANY ONE LEFT THE SYSTEM PEMENTLY ENGAGED BY UNPUGING THE VAC AND WIRING SYSTEM FROM THE SYNCRO GEAR. WILL THIS BUGGER THINGS UP IN THE LONG RUNThe system is permanently engaged already what the vac & wiring system do is to protect the system from damage (suppose you are making an emergency stop and lock the rear wheels up, the VC unit senses that the front wheels are rotating faster than the locked rears and puts power through to them trying to move them against the brakes) it also overrides the freewheel in reverse so you can go backwards in 4WD as well.
Chris S
Moderatoroh no it should have 7 or 8 connection pins & wires,
like this

Chris S
ModeratorAs you say, this is most definitely all connected,
The reversing light switch P/N 191 919 823D was dropped without replacement on 01-06-2007 and there are none left anywhere in within VW,
I have some rebuilt ones here available on an exchange basis at 25 euros each + postage, or I will rebuild your switch for the same price.(Considering that they cost over 40eu each when they were available from VW I think thats a fair price)
