great going chris – the rust battles continue in sunny npton too…then it’s on to follow each of these guides and sort the mechanicals lol. Safest cars in the world these
ld50Memberit wouldn’t hurt to salvage the exhaust manifold and downpipe from it – they’re needed from time to time on here and just try getting hold of one when you do!
ld50MemberI know this might be being picky but does anyone else think that putting the aluminium steering rack as the lowest point of the car is a bit of a bad idea? (lower than the front subframe even)
obviously it’s a mental-bental-chicken-oriental conversion and fair play to them for pulling it off…but still – the first kerb he has to drive over he’s walkin’ home.
Also given the size and weight of that motor and the nos bottle in the back – much of the frame holding the motor in place looks pretty thin…or is that just the green-eyed monster talking?
ld50Membertbh I don’t think it’ll be a propblem since I’ll probably run the syncro at stock height.
I seem to be driving in a lot of areas which have crappy roads (generally known as “england” [] i think) and I’m finding the golfs being low a bit of a pain…the sump on the 16v is a whole different shape than it started out.
ld50Memberso try and put it on in the same position you took it off then?
I guess if the ride height doesn’t change and it works ok now (it did at last test) then putting it back would be the best approximation without doing manometer shenanigans…?
ld50MemberI was wondering about this – does anyone have any ideas for how to make sure the rear brake regulator goes back on at the correct angle since I would presume it matters – current plan is just to measure the distance from the nearest flat surface… shouldn’t be any problem with that should there?
ld50Memberah well actually I only want to swap 5th over from the syncro box into my 16v box as we discussed – do I need to take the box apart at all for that? If I could swap them without gutting it I’d be doubly happy….
ld50Memberexcellent news chris – shame about the captioning though. I’m trying to figure a way of making it user-friendly to do
ld50Memberhmm ads seem to be working a bit but the clicks aren’t really making much – according to adsense I’m not allowed to encourage ppl to click on the ads and if they detect “fake” clicks they just keep your cash and suspend your account…..so the question is I guess how do I encourage ppl to click on the ads without encouraging them
Any ideas for better placements?
ld50MemberI reckon the only thing we *can* take for granted is we never get the whole story…
ld50MemberI read that – sounded very interesting…. lol the “made of girders” wrangler of all cars…the irony o/
ld50Memberhe’s at the right place it’s just not sending him the invite not really sure what we can do about that…I’ve tried resending it a couple of times.
ld50Memberer well that’s me bang out of ideas then I’m afraid
ld50Memberjust thinking outside the box for a mo – I wonder if there’s some way we can make the captioning part of the site usage so that it happens “of its own accord”….
for instance… every now and then have a random photo come up with a text box – if you know what this is type in the box (or “if you agree with the description”), if not don’t…. all the answers are saved and once there’s a couple of answers per item, a general concensus will have more or less formed as to what the item is…
It’s only an idea but if we can somehow make the captioning part of the site usage it might just make the “problem” of captioning go away…
ld50Memberno it should be all internal to google – try going to adwords.gmail.com and logging in with your gmail login. It may prompt you for more input then…
