it’s ok for a bit and then it slows right down – still trying to figure out what the issue is. Am working on it though.

I’ve got a DTML sitting here if you’re interested… no fitting kit tho.

indeed – although it must be said the syncro does slide nicely, having since been to some drift events, seeing the kind of sustained brutal strain those cars go through I realised it’s not something I’d want to subject the syncro drivetrain to or would see it coping with particularly well. In low-grip conditions I wouldn’t see a problem with it though ;)

That said, a rock-hard back end and a stiff but loosely damped front end seemed to do the job nicely on tarmac and would let you sliiiiiide till the cows come home and with a joyous amount of precision.

With it’s standard motor you really had to give it some sideways and make the motor work to maintain power during a slide but it was both doable and delightful, but I still don’t think I’d do that to my syncro day-in day-out….I reckon the spares bill would quickly get silly…

If you have big bumpers the supersprint one is ok but on small bumpers it sticks out a mile.

What intrigues me is why it’s got a flagpole mast included…

you can use the fronts from a normal GTI but the rears are different lengths. A quick search of the forum will show lots of discussion on this subject.

Hi Eddy, did you get anywhere with this? I’ve just had some time to look into this as I thought I had some additional info somewhere.

Well I found it and scanned it – hopefully this is useful. It’s from “Volkswagen Sport Tuning” by Bentley Publishers.

I never found the TDC mark on the flywheel lined up as expected, but there was usually *a* mark which did – just not the TDC mark as specified in this (and the haynes too I think).

This is the book for reference – it’s earned its keep imo..

Eddy – it was from a 1.8 syncro kjet motor, the first one I took to bits – I think the Engine code was GX – not sure what code the head itself is. There’s photos of it gettign stripped here:

I would say don’t travel with folk you haven’t travelled with before.

Some members on here had a go and different approaches to things meant it didn’t work out too well, hence the silence on this I suspect.

from the sound of it though the track seems to be well worth it.

I don’t think there’s likely to be a problem beyond the defacing of the site. They seem to have somehow created a user which could then edit the category description to include their banner.

Changes seem to be limited to forum settings, so nothing outside the forum database.

Passwords are stored in the database as a “hash” – i.e. password “lalala” would come out looking like 213123131abce332112, so even if someone got them they would be no use.

It would be possible that a naughty admin user could overwrite password but I don’t think they can be read/stolen as such since they’re not stored in that plain text.

Essentially I can either shut it down till I’ve had time to poke through the logs and figure out what’s happened, and have time to upgrade the site and re-do the modifications, or we can try stronger passwords and just carry on for the mo – with regular backups ;)
