ModeratorA heated front screen was never a factory option on the Golf 2.
Does the screen not come with any diagrams?
List of possible parts needed.
191 959 621B Switch (with w/l) heated rear(now front)window, dropped without replacement on 01-06-2007 but available from
or your local scrapyard
You could mount the switch in place of one of the blanking plates & possibly take a live feed from the HRW switch for your HFW?
Strange but I cant find a relay in ETKA that is specifically for the heated rear screen,
but I suppose that if a relay is needed then you could use any generic 4 pin relay to switch the power to the screen,
you just need to make sure that the power cables are heavy enough to carry the current & fit a line fuse in the power side of the circuit (after the relay (if fitted))

ModeratorCould it be the steering column switch?

ModeratorAre the Blue/White & Blue/Green wires from the Passat or original Golf harness?

Yes, as it is listed for the PG motor while the one you have is listed for the 1H motor.

ModeratorThat will be a differently angled neck just for the Airco version

ModeratorI will have a nearly new one for sale in a couple of months when I swap it out for the 25mm one (which is also no longer available from VW) Postage is also not a problem!

As you can see it was fitted brand new in 2007 http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1671

ModeratorGiven the higher temperatures involved with a G lader motor personally I would keep the fan afterrun system in place,
I think that long term its probably going to be saving you some money as the residual heat in these motors can be enormous,
and with no cooling airflow things can start to get damaged very quickly,
Don’t forget that if VW had thought it was not needed then they would not have fitted it!

ModeratorOh dear, what a bugger! but at least you did it in the end [
]BTW I wonder why VW would say to replace the complete propshaft wnen they actuall sell the bushes as a seperate part?
could it have anything to do with the propshaft costing
p/n 191 521 101L @ € 1100.19
or
p/n 191 521 101A @ € 1475.37while the bush costs only € 25 or so
Both propshafts are available from VW Classic parts at these prices [

ModeratorIts another American made XTR rack so is correct for the Rallye,
other than that I cant find any other info in ETKA.

ModeratorPart number 193 807 789 is the bearing (2 needed) but unfortunately dropped by VW on 01-01-2003
VW Classic parts don’t have them listed either

how about making a full length nylon sleeve for the swivel carrier to rotate in?

ModeratorThis should work very well as the PB head & Weber carb are worth about 10 or 12 bhp
I think the idle issues are possibly related to the vacuum system as you also have no 4wd in reverse which is also vacuum operated.

ModeratorPowerflex have 4 distributers in Norway, but if they can make exhaust systems up is another thing entirely

ModeratorPersonally I dont know if the 2wd Corrado rear suspension would still fit when you convert to 4wd,
however there is a difference of something like 2 to 3 inches (Syncro shorter) between the rear shocks on the 2 & 4wd Golf 2s
After checking in ETKA for compatibility,
it appears that Corrado has the same part number (& so is the same part) for the rear shocks at the 2wd Golf 2
So from this I would presume that you will find that the Corrado shocks will be too long to fit your Corrado Syncro conversion.
btw, the Corrado rear springs are also listed for the 2wd Golf 2
