ModeratorFingers crossed for you here as well!
btw, I had a similar problem with the oil as well (in as much as the oil pressure was not registering on the scale & when warm the oil pressure warning buzzer was sounding on tickover, this happened when the official VW garage put a too light grade into the engine
After my complaining, they blatantly said “it was the correct grade to use” mind you they could not (or would not) say what grade of oil they had put in my motor,
Mind you they also said “that most of their mechanics (part fitters)were younger than my(1989)car”
Pascal sorted it out for me last summer with an oil & filter change (with the correct weight oil) when we called at his garage on the way from my house (almost past his) on a trip to England [

ModeratorYou really need to weld them so thats really an axle off job, however I have heard you can bolt a secondary bracket on to locate the greater diameter of the Passat ARB at the cost of reduced ground clearance.
btw here are the photos (With acknowledgement to les)

ModeratorI spoke to Haley at Peter Russek today & have just emailed them, & however does not look good for a new print run.
Apparently Peter Russek recently died & a new company have taken over, unfortunately a PDF (or any electronic version of this manual is non existant)
this means that it must first be scanned at a high resolution to enable to be printed, and for such a small print run it is probably not worth it it them to do this.In my e-mail to them I have asked if there are any ways around this problem
More to follow as I get it.

That compares quite favourably with the original VW price before they were dropped without replacement. [

Chris S
ModeratorJust out of interest what grade of oil are you using?
you need to run 15/40 in these engines anything less is too thin and will cause problems.Chris S
ModeratorYou need to extend the inner brackets on the wishbone where the bolt on mounting brackets & rubbers sit,
Other than that it is just a question of using the correct bolt on brackets & mounting rubbers,
I will try & find a photo for you.

ModeratorYou probably need some of this

Moderatorok, then your oil gallery might be slightly blocked! [

ModeratorDid you prime the lifters with oil? while it is not really neccessary it helps, if not with new lifters it can take untill the engine gets warm for them to all to quieten down, just leave it ticking over for a while.
