I have a new Rallye front donut I wanted to use but lugs where I want to bolt it to the VC are only 22mm & I need 25mm.
What I am hoping to do is press the 25mm lugs out of the old donut/balance weight & press them into the new Rallye front donut, has anyone ever done/tried this before? Is this possible?
Yes bit there is a tendency for both the inner & outer sleeves to come out destroying the donut
Or can a donut with the correct lugs sizes be bought off the shelf? Yes but you will not like the price (see Below)

I think I need 22mm on the side that attaches to the propshaft & 25mm going into the VC. Any help or advice much appreciated.
Richard
I have a few rear donuts in near perfect condition (see photos)
You can have a almost unused one for 55 eu + postage

There is only a bit of surface rust on them which will easily wipe off (they look worse in the photos than they actually are)
The rubber donut, the important part is in perfect condition [

ModeratorGood on you, stick at it!
After 35 years of smoking I had to give up 11 years ago, its one of the best things I have done as if I hadn’t I would not be here now.
Stick at it, it gets easier as it goes further.

ModeratorIf you want a front propshaft boot heatshield I have the last 8 of them in the world here [
]They will cost you 20 euros each inc tax, paypal fees & post & packing to anywhere in Europe (inc UK)
Or 25 euros to North America & most of the rest (but not all) of the world
As they (heat) protect the no longer available front cv boot, I think they are a good buy at that price, especially given that these are the last ever!
btw VW thought it necessary to fit them to Syncro models producing 160 bhp + so if you have even a slightly tuned motor its probably a good idea to fit one.

ModeratorHi Shinya, As you know its very difficult to diagnose problems on a forum or via skype for that matter, all one can do is offer advice as to the most likely causes,
I would suggest that for your next move you try & produce the same vibrations either on the road or preferably on a rolling road
1) in 4WD as normal (rolling road)
2) with the front (and/or) rear propshaft sections removed from the car (rolling road or normal road)This may help identify if the vibrations are coming from the front or rear of the car and narrow down the search area,
sorry I cant be of more help but as already said “long distance mechanicing is not an easy task!”Chris S
ModeratorPersonally, if it looks ok then I would leave it alone.

ModeratorFitting a GTI cam will not give you much if any extra, you need to fit the GTI head as this has bigger valves, you can block the injector ports with pennies!
Chris S
ModeratorHow did that happen?

ModeratorI dont have a copy of ETKA with me here so couldnt check the part number
Chris S
ModeratorI think VW classic parts have the roll bar in stock, I will check for you when I get back from Portugal

The ratios are very slightly different but it doesn’t really matter that much, its only if you decide to sell & the buyer mentions it
So i just need 2.4L of 75W90? Yes thats it, synthetic or semi synthetic is best
Thanks

ModeratorHere are some photos of an original one.

As you can see the rubber boot is well hidden away to stop the heat getting at it.
