ModeratorThe 18.5mm (std Golf Syncro) is available direct from VW.
The 20.0mm (Rallye + Passat) is dropped without replacement!
The 25.0mm (Passat Syncro ) With self leveling suspension P/N 357511409C
is available from

ModeratorAs you probably know in the US the T3 was called Vanagon!
Before anyone can help we need to know the engine & gearbox codes as the front axle type is dependent on these, there were a multitude of incompatable with each other gearboxes & front diffs fitted to the T3 Syncro,
It is very important to identify the correct part needed, as fitting the wrong one may get you 50 feet before something expensive breaks and you have to do it all over again!
I am sure that these links will be of great help to you.

ModeratorYes 2.4 liters
Here is everything you might want to know about the drive train

ModeratorWhen you say you bought a Syncro set up from Canada, I take it that it is a Passat 35i Syncro drive train?
The Golf & Passat rear track is the same width, apart from the Golf 3 VR6 Syncro which is 20mm wider.
With 577 WHP I would strongly suggest that you convert your Syncro system 4 Motion Haldex & with a suitable gearbox & haldex adapted rear axle,
These links will be of help, especially the last one!

ModeratorYes they can, I swapped 5 stud rear hubs out of my VR6 Wide Track axle conversion & pushed in the rear 4 stud MK 2 hubs, you will need new wheel bearings as you destroy them when removing the original hubs.
or this may be an alternative idea

ModeratorKeep going, it does get easier (eventually)
Chris S
ModeratorWhile the front upper strut brace is a good mod the rear one is not really needed on a Syncro due to the massive constuction of the rear beam, compare it to the 2wd rear axle beam & you will see what I mean.
Yes the extra power & drivability you get from the Weber carb conversion is awesome isn’t it, you just need an 8v GTI head now, it will give about the same again & put you to just over 100 bhp [

With postage to the USA (or anwhere outside Europe for that matter) & paypal charges it comes out at 45 euros in total.
For the UK or Europe the cost is 35 euros in total.
as of now there is only 1 copy left! so please be quick if you want it [:0]

On a lighter note, I have managed to obtain 4 new copies of this manual, I think these may be the last ones ever as they heve not been published since 1998.
Due to the fact that I had to pay what I feel is an excessive premium price to get them, they are on sale at 25 pounds each + postage to wherever you are,
I am sorry about the price, but given that they cover the Syncro specific 02C gearbox, transfer box, prop shaft, rear diff/axle & wiring, as well as the G60 engine, braking system etc and that to the best of my knowledge they are the very last ones I feel they reasonable value.

ModeratorUnfortunately due to family commitments Les has disappeared from the Syncro scene,
He hasn’t posted on here since 19/09/2009 & hasn’t even logged in since 18/10/2009
Here is his last post on Vortex http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5098918-B3-Passat-parts
As you can see he is selling up.
Chris S
ModeratorYou have to make them!
