The figures btw were taken from the relevent VW brochures.
Chris S
ModeratorCorrect, it should be the 189T that you need.
Chris S
ModeratorI used a spring compressor & fitted them with the spring compressed, then I released the spring compressor & it jacked it up to what you see, needless to say I only drove round the block once before I replaced them with normal stuff.

ModeratorIts just the same as adjusting a wheel bearing!
Chris S
ModeratorOn the left hand side of the diff there is an adjuster ring where the drive shaft goes in, so you can set the play in the internal diff bearings
Have a look here
ETKA – Gosy – 1990 – 5 – 25 – 106-40 part nr 11 adjuster ring – 13 locking ringChris S
ModeratorThats a good question, they could be either 68 or 72mm, VW seem to have fitted whichever swing arm (& Bearing) that they had in their hand, I am afraid ETKA is no help here so you wont know till you take them apart, btw have you checked the (Adjustable) play in your diff bearings?
Chris S
ModeratorHi Joe, I might be interested in the rear arms, where are they/you based? & how much would the postage be to the Netherlands?
Chris S
ModeratorMy Partsman just emailed back & unfortunately there isn’t one left anywhere in the worldwide VW network
