ModeratorThe pins we are talking about on the 020 Gearbox (which you have) are not external pins, but are internal

ModeratorIf your new switch works please will you send me your old one, as these switches are getting very rare & not every one is suitable for rebuilding.
Chris S
ModeratorApologies not necessary, as no one took offence.
I can do the switch exchange if you like? As long as you send me your old switch when you have swapped them over.
I have just seen that 1 of the switches are still available at

ModeratorYes you are correct, it is not a std G60 downpipe!
Chris S
ModeratorLet me find my photos of the std G60 Syncro downpipe.
Chris S
ModeratorI would think that (as usually happens) it is the reverse switch (on the gearbox) that is giving the problems, they do wear out you know, even if it has taken 25 years!
They are no longer available from VW but I can rebuild your own switch for you with new springs etc for 30 euros + postage
With regard to the response time,Please Note,
That we all give up our leisure time to try help each other out, some of us (as you do) have to work, some of us (like myself) are retired, however most of us do have a life apart from these forums, which sometimes takes precedence over anything posted on here,
Be assured that we will all do our best to help you out, but sometimes you just have to wait untill the right person comes along!

ModeratorYou can still post your Syncro Sandrail/Dune Buggy build photos etc on here, as I am quite sure we will find it of interest.

I am sure I will have lots of questions along the way.
I am sure you will, don’t Sandrail/Dunebuggys use flat 4 aircooled motors?
If so you may be looking for T3 Syncro parts
Chris S
ModeratorI think that most, but not all of us will be aware of the vast difference in performance between Summer & Winter tyres
