ModeratorThe correct bolt (p/n N 10208301 )
is being reproduced to VW original specs by VW Classic parts.de
http://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/bestand/index_e.html
Part Number Description Type Price (VAT included) Qty
N 102 083 01 screw New Production 11.92 €As for the threads, I dont think that there is any easy way to repair them, maybe you can get
helicoil inserts of that size?these look as if they may be correct?
Chris S
ModeratorThe VC unit should react within 1/2 a turn of a front wheel spinning.
Chris S
ModeratorInside photos, It looks a bit of a different layout to yours?
could be an earlier or later model.
Chris S
ModeratorGot one! [
]
I will open it up later today & see what the resistor value is
btw if you want a reserve box? you can have it for 50 euros + postage
Chris S
Moderator2.0 16V mk3 should be as cheap & easy as the 1.8 16 valver to fit
& with 1 of these
will give you this
The chip was made on dyno as the car produced 171BHP and 210NM with standard camshafts, This car had also catalyic converter removed.
While the VR6 motor is a heavy lump to have sat in the nose of a Golf 2.
what ever motor you fit you will have to modify the exhaust manifold anyway.
Chris S
ModeratorI just looked & I havn’t got an 022CS ECU to open for a look inside.
Chris S
ModeratorYes its an open diff.
yes both wheels will spin as it takes less effort to spin the other wheel than turning the VC unit.
& by the way a reply within 48 hours is good, there are only a few members with the knowledge to reply & we all have other things to do as well as being on here.

ModeratorThere should not be oil coming out of the CV boot, if the flange seal was leaking oil it would go directly to the outside of the CV joint & also drip down the box casing,
what I think you have is the CV joint grease coming through the split in the boot, as the only way that gearbox oil could get inside the boot is for the center cap seal to have a leak (which is extremely unlikely)

ModeratorThe only tool that you really need is a pair of circlip pliers
something like this set will be ideal for all your circlips
Chris S
ModeratorThats exactly the way to do it, it quite easy but awkward to do with the box in situ.
VW repair kit for the 90mm Flange is 020 498 085E
VW repair kit for the 100mm Flange is 020 498 085G

ModeratorSo they should have the Caliper mounting lugs for the disc brake conversion then? you cant see them in the photos.
Chris S
ModeratorIts probably the connector plug where power goes into the back of the switch.
btw there are 3 I think 3 different light switches, sure you got the correct one?
Chris S
ModeratorAre they from a Golf 2 or 3?
Chris S
Moderatorit is probably your brake drum/shoes binding (rust on the drum), especially if as you say it has not moved for a while.
