With regard to B-Pal, its very handy to have a UK supply of Pounds Sterling in case I need to buy anything from the UK!

    Measure the inlet valve.

On the GU/GX or any non GTI it is 38mm diameter,
and on the PB and also all other 8V GT & GTI heads including the G60 heads they are 40mm diameter.

While all the exhaust valves are the same size at 33.5mm, the stem on the G60 exhaust valve is .25mm shorter and it is also sodium (natrium) filled for greater heat dissipation.

Yes he mentioned it to me as well, and I am completely in agreement with his proposals, especially if it sorts out the speed (or lack of speed) issue.

Can we make it that items for sale have to be approved, in say the same way as new members? could we also site accept paypay payments? what I mean by this is can vwsyncro.co.uk have its own paypal adress? so it becomes more self funding?

    The Tappets are Hydraulic,
The manifolds, water cooling flanges & everything else will bolt straight on
Make sure there are no cracks in the head between the inlet & exhaust valves, also inspect the front & side cooling water flanges for condition(leaks etc)before you buy as the flange mounting bolts have a habit of seizing in and breaking off flush with the head when you try & remove them

BTW the rear wiper will now scratch the perspex rear window so you may as well chuck that out as well along with the rear washer, hopefully this winter I will get the time & also be motivated enough to make some carbon fibre or polyester bolt on panels for the golf 2,
I mean things like bonnets, tailgates, wings and even doors of both the 2 & 4 door types

Well if it was my Golf Syncro the best way to lighten it would be for me to go on a strict diet, that would save at least 30 odd kilos! however I dont really think that would be a viable option on TC’s car, anyway pimper old lad why boring clear silicon when you could make it a colourful feature? You could also replace the Glass rear & side windows with perspex and get rid of the rear winder mechanisms & silicon the perspex sliding part in, it is still reversable if there is a change of plan.

I as well think you have a wire connected wrong on the carb, try disconnecting all wires from the carb and then seeing if the fan runs then, as the manual says that the the over run switch is controlled from the pierberg carb just above the fuel cut off valve and given that the wire from this to the radiator fan is brown/black as is the wire from the ignition to the fuel cut off valve you could just possibly haver the wrong one collected, try turning the ignition off and see which cables still have power, the one that has is the fan run on and the one that hasn’t is the fuel cut off valve
