Do you want an ASU Rallye box with a seperate cast iron transfer case or will a Passat type do it for you?
Chris SModeratorI honestly dont know, but I should think that “wiggling it till it fits” will work.
Chris SModeratorThe wings themselves are different, the flair is wider on the G60 (front) wing
Chris SModeratorThe valve springs are identical for all the 8V 1800 motors, btw there is both an inner & outer spring, you did have them both fitted didn’t you Danny?
Chris SModeratorHey if you put a single lamp grill in that will also save weight!
& then why not take the vw badge out of the grill centre and duct it from there?
Chris SModeratorThe site speed from where I am sitting is amazing, averaging less than 1/10 of a second per page, its the difference between night & day!
Chris SModeratorKeeping the GU head and fitting a sharper cam is a waste of money, as you will only get about 1/2 the power it would make when fitted with a GTI head!

Chris SModeratorA 268/270 Degree cam is your best bet for fast road use, Techtonics do a very nice one for not much money, we had a group buy on them about 2 or 3 years ago.

A) No just throw it all away (or sell it on here)Q) Will the same engine mounts fit?
A) Yes.Q) Do I need to change the gearbox as well?
A) Not yet, but you will later!Q) Does anyone have twin 40s lying about?
A) Suprise suprise I do, btw there are clearance issues on the bulkhead with Weber DCOE & Dellorto sidedraft carbs, a better bet is a Single twin choke Weber or a pair of downdraft Weber DCNF 36 or DCNF 40s, I have both here, I bought them for my last (carb) Syncro, but never got to fit them.Q) Do I need to change the down pipe etc?
A) See previous post.Q) Is the engine stamped 2e on the block?
A) Yes, at the front top right.regards Darren, more questions to come I am just getting started[]thanx
Chris SModeratorOf course should you go daft and fit your chiptuned 2.0 litre motor with an 8v crossflow head, 40mm throttle bodies and an Eaton M45 compressor, well then over 200 bhp & 200 newton meters are available with just a touch of the right foot,
Performance wise that will be about 6.5 seconds or so to 100 kph (62mph)
and a top end (with the right 5th gear) of 230/235 kph = 140/145 mphChris SModeratorThe extra 200cc makes a vast difference, dont forget it is almost an 11.5% capacity increase from 1781cc to 1984cc
The relevent figures are
2E 115 bhp @ 5400 rpm & 166 nm @ 3200 rpm Digifant inj
GX- 90 bhp @ 5250 rpm & 137 nm @ 3000 rpm K-jet inj
GU- 90 bhp @ 5200 rpm & 145 nm @ 3300 rpm Twin choke carburettor
1P- 98 bhp @ 5400 rpm & 143 nm @ 3000 rpm Digifant inj
PB 112 bhp @ 5400 rpm & 159 nm @ 4000 rpm Digifant injAs they both use the same injection system and are very similar in many other ways an almost direct comparison can be made between the 2.0 litre 2E motor and the 1P 1800 version.
My recomputered & chiptuned but otherwise standard 1P motor is now producing about 125 bhp & 165 nm, and will actually pull hard up to 6000 rpm in all gears,
btw the 1p motor is mechanically identical to the 112bhp PB 1.8 8V GTI motor and has been electronically detuned.Electronically tuned to the same level as my 1P motor the 2E motor should be somwhere around 145 bhp & 190 newton meters, and when fitted with a 268/270 degree cam should have no problems in making an easy 150 bhp

by the time you have added the paypal charges on its going to be a little bit over 400 pounds for everything.
Chris SModerator2E is ok but is 1/2 an inch taller so you may need to mod the downpipe.
Chris SModeratorHe will ship direct to the UK for 25 euros
I have a full set of 4 here which I am building up with new springs etc for Mark (Slateford) to replace his crappy coilovers,
They seem to be of exellent quality and they are TUV certified and have a 2 year warranty, what more can you ask for,
about 2 years ago I bought a set for a Corrado and they are still doing the bizz and the owner is well pleased with them [] -
