ModeratorThe GU motor & the 8v GTI share the same bottom end, while the GX motor has a different (reduced from 10 to 1 to 9 to 1 compression ratio) piston so is not as good a bet as the GU for tuning.

ModeratorNo, as the olives are not a VW part, I should take a piece of the plastic pipe with you to ensure a correct fit, and try a plumbers merchant or a caravan/camping centre or maybe even somewhere like B & Q for them.

ModeratorHurrah!

ModeratorLet me see what I have in my magic shed, I am sure I have a Rallye fuel pump & lines lying about somewhere,
Ok I have had a look at my spare pump & what I would do is to cut the plastic pipes and extend them where needed with the high pressure flexy pipe p/n N 020 281 1, making sure it was clamped together properly of course!
for extra security you could always fit compression olives onto the cut ends before you clamp them up.
btw the VW clamps are p/n N 100 834 01Chris S
ModeratorWhat fuel system are you running 1, 2, or 3?
the actual plastic fuelpipe itself seems to be the same material for all the different versions, so I wouldnt worry to much about that side of it , it is just a matter of getting one that physically fits, or could you adapt it with some of the VW high pressure fuel pipe, p/n N 020 281 1 which costs about 10 pounds a meter.Chris S
ModeratorYes, thats just what I did when I swopped my rear axle out.
Chris S
ModeratorMy 1989 Golf Syncro had the 4 pipe version, While my new VR6 axle has the 3 hole version.
Chris S
ModeratorJust the Head and the Fuel & spark delivery systems (carb or injection, with or without motor management computer)
Chris S
ModeratorI think that covers it very well!
Chris S
ModeratorJust out of interest, these are not Syncro specific and the identical item it fitted to the 2WD Golfs as well as the 4WD versions,
btw there are 3 & 4 brake pipe versions as well, but they are all the same in side you just add/delete one of the fluid input pipes, There is either a straight connecter or a T piece at the back end of the front/rear brake pipe about 6 (pipe)inches front of the regulator where the change can be made.Chris S
ModeratorSounds a good swap to me then.
