ModeratorYou are correct in every detail, there is no way this will fit to the right hand drive Golf 2,
if you really want to fit ABS I suggest you start looking at the Golf 3 as this had a totally different ABS system fitted to the RHD cars the MARK20-I ATE, this was available in 2 versions normal ABS or ABS + EDL, and looking at the drawings in ETKA it would appear to fit without to many problems as it is a totally seperate unit, and the master cylinder servo unit sits in its normal RHD place and the ABS unit sits across on the left hand side of the bulkhead over the gearbox.Chris S
ModeratorWot no photo of your new (rather dashing i’m sure) suntan!
Just think, non Syncro owners have to got to spend all that time & money going to Spain or somewhere else warm & then lie on a beach for hours on end to get a suntan in January, while you only have to go as far as your garage, think of the savings you are making by not going to Spain, which of course gives you more of both time & money to spend on your beloved Syncro! some people are just lucky I guess.

ModeratorAs for a value, I would suggest asking 500 pounds, as it looks rust free & is a very tidy car, it also has a full mot and the gearbox is quite an easy repair.

ModeratorThe cables cost 49.55 euros each & I have the switch listed at 47.12 euros, I will check the switch price on monday with the dealer, also the availabilty.
btw I ordered a set of Rallye handbrake cables for my rear axle conversion last summer & they were at the dealers the next day.
The postage to the UK will be a maximum of 20 euros possibly less, and there is a Paypal surcharge of 4% for international payments.Chris S
ModeratorThese are not VW springs, they are aftermarket ones, from someone like Powertech or Eibach, the VW springs are not progressively wound.
I did try VR6 Syncro rear springs but I felt that they they were just a little too firm.

ModeratorIt is earthed through the manifold – head – block & through the engine earth cable back to the battery.
Check in your Haynes manual chapter 4 – 18, page 4A 21 this shows the hedgehog. []

Suspension here – http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1693
The front suspension is identical to the 2WD model and so is easy to replace/modify, while at the rear the Syncro axle & differential are nearly 100 kilos heavier than the 2WD version & the 2wd rear springs are not strong enough to manage the extra weight, you need a spring with a minimum wire diameter of 11.5mm to carry the Syncro rear end, cut down progressively wound Passat rear springs work a treat, see photos.

ModeratorAccording to the VW manual
1) Tighten all 6 bolts finger tight
2) Tighten the 2 bracket to engine block bolts to 8NM (Newton Meters)
3) Tighten the 4 transfer box bolts to 25 NM
4) Tighten the 2 block bolts to 40 NMJob done
btw the transfer box arm bracket is 40 NM both endsChris S
ModeratorYou have to register
Chris S
ModeratorHold on a minute, these dont appear to be bike carburettors at all, they are only the throttle bodies as they all quote injector rates & a carb set up doesn’t have injectors!
Chris S
ModeratorGo injection, you know it makes sense. [}
