Do you see at the top right corner of your screen? there is a word up there ‘search’, thats search as in seek, hunt, explore etc,
if you click on it and enter ‘brake conversion’ or even ‘brake upgrade’ you will find this topic in the

Syncro Reference Section, or Syncros for Dummys

    http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=119 brake upgrades

We do like to help, but we like it a lot better if you try and help yourself first, so please use the search engine

btw,I think I have a pair of caliper carriers here somewhere

See if you can find avery early 84 or 85 Golf 2 on the scrapyard, as they had a seperate washer bottle/pump unit expressly for the rear screen, it fitted under the carpet in the rear right hand wing after the wheel arch.

While the reservoir is no longer available from VW it is shown in ETKA at

Yes, you guessed it, the speedo is Syncro specific and has a W value of 1740, the 2wd Golfs have a speedo with a W value of 1540, [:(]
the part nr for the speedo head you need is 193 957 033E

btw that is one part that I do not have laying about here as all mine read in kilometers

Do you still have the old speedo head? if not then anyone on here who has swapped over to an 02C cable change gearbox should have one, as they will have needed to fit a 16V GTI speedo head in order to read have it read correctly. [:I]

A Golf 1 rear shock will fit, (best to fit a pair) but is too lightly damped for normal use, but it would get you through the MOT though!

Probably/possibly not, I think I have the correct LHD ECU here somewhere if you want it?

btw, its not so much the catalytic converter as the lambda sonde, as even if the pin out on the ECU/Harness plug is compatable, the UK ECU will not be looking for a lambda sender.

btw you can remove the cats and fit a twin silencer boxes (like mine)or even a pair of straight through pipes if you like. [}:)]

For reliability in nothing else you should fit a complete G60 Syncro gearbox & transfer box, this also has the advantage of having a 228mm clutch instead of the 210mm one,so you will need a suitable clutch & flywheel, you will also need the correct Rallye/Golf2 G60 Syncro front driveshafts, the clutch can be either cable or hydraulically operated that is up to you,
you will need a Rallye/Passat cablechange gear lever mech & cables, & the front & rear engine mounting consoles

Please note that the Passat 35i G60 driveshafts are 25mm or so too long to fit as standard, and if used they must be fitted together with a Passat steering rack, this will increase the front track by 50mm (2 inches)

you will also need the propshaft front section & rubber donut from a Rallye, the rest of the drivetrain rearwards will be ok with the power of the G60 motor.

you may also want to upgrade your brakes & suspension to cope with the extra power.

btw, this is not a complete list, its just what I could immmediately think of.
