ModeratorI know that the Passat rear beam is OK, but the mounting plates for the golf are different. I’ll cut the Passat bottom because otherwise is going to be scraped.
All 3 rear axle Differential mounts are different on the Passat.
I don’t know if there is any difference in the tunnel of Syncro G60(cable shifter) and ordinary Syncro(rod shifter) and particularly the height.
All the Golf 2 Syncro models use the same (high) tunnel as does the 2wd G60 Golf.
I prefer finding a Syncro donor car is because of the carpet, fuel tank and other small pieces that I’ll need.
There is one here http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2615
And some parts here http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2575

ModeratorAfter you fit the plates you have to slot the existing holes out anyway, the problem is that the original metal is not thick enough to take the stresses when slotted and will soon start distorting, the channel plates prevent this from happening, & also allow the bolt to rotate around the offset head rather than the offset shank.
Have a look here http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1671

ModeratorThe Passat Syncro rear floor is completely different than the Golf 2 Syncro floor,
The Passat Syncro has a rear beam that would go right through the middle of the petrol tank & the spare wheel well on the Golf 2 Syncro. The Golf 2 2wd rear floor is also very different than the Golf 2 Syncro, as is the petrol tank & filler neck.
Have a look on the for sale forum here you may find what you need.

ModeratorOk, yes I know what a twoc is it was just the proximity to lhasa that threw me,
I just checked and its LA6V – Lhasa Green metallic
btw In the past but I always understood that Q plates were only for home built cars? please forgive me [
] this is not an interrogation, but not having lived in the UK for many years I do not know the current rules & regulations [:o)]Many years ago I once fell foul of the Q plate law after building a Moss Midge! link here http://www.mobc.co.uk/page2.htm
I actually met Mr Moss in the early years, when he was only selling plans for a 2 or 4 seater Midge which were both based on the 1200cc Triumph Herald chassis,
I suggested that that with a few mods the 6 cylinder 2 liter Triumph engine & overdrive gearbox could be used and so was given a free set of plans to play with, unfortunately by the (hobby) time I had built the car & modded the plans it was too late as the world & Mr Moss had moved on. [xx(]
