Thanks for that Chris! So basically vw heritage are charging DOUBLE the price. I think I’ll be ordering from classic parts direct. Thanks again for your help!

Can anyone else make sense of this? I can get ONE Shock absorber from VW (rip off) Heritage Classic parts for £578, or I can have TWO shock absorbers for 700 Euros from Mecatechnic, who appear to get the shocks from…….wait for it…….VW Classic Parts?!?!?! Here’s the link…..

VW Heritage have confirmed it is £578 EACH!!! [:0][:0][:0] This is not good. Does anyone know what company actually made them? Bilstein or Monroe maybe?

I have found somewhere online who do a pair for €700 euros. I’ll have to double check with heritage if that’s for one or two.

I’m interested in getting more power from the Country Chris, I’m guessing I have the 1P set up in there, How easy are these to tune up? It’s already got de-cat with straight through stainless system.

I’ve been reading this and thinking what they on about, then I remember I got a country so having the room to remove the diff isn’t a problem……just saying.[:D]

Yeah the top one is what I would call ridiculously expensive. I know it’s a rare item but for what it is I dont think it’s worth that. I know I can buy a plain one but want to keep it as original as possible.

If you upload your pictures to photobucket.com then copy image url from there and paste it in between the brackets when you click “insert image” tab. Thats how I put pictures up, hope this helps.[:D]

Would it not be cheaper to try and find a replacement gearbox and diff in your country? By the time you cover shipping both ways plus the cost of rebuild seems expensive.

I’ll have to put together a how-to on it for you, i’ve got to refill the coupling i’ve taken off the car so i’ll take pictures as I go and put it up. Before I done this my car would wheel spin out of junctions due to the lack of fluid in the VC, now you can feel all four wheels have traction, Its certainly better than it was before.

Thanks Chris it was a joint effort between me and google, I have a spare 500g tub of silicone if anyone’s interested. The hardest part doing the job is removal of the wire that holds the end cap on, it’s fed through the slot in the side of housing. When reassembling I gripped the wire with mole grips and tapped with hammer and it went back in quite easy.
