MemberDid you ever consider to make the exhaust manifold run on only one side of the driveshaft? Would it be problems to do that?

Participantyes and yes
on a RHD basicly there is no room as the steerign rack gets in the way, TC routed both pipes down one side useign a rallye downpipe but had to do rather a lot of modifyign to the footwell and the downpipe to make it fit.
with the 02c cabel change gearbox there is a hole on the left hand side thats in the right place for the pipe and makes a nice easy run so would have been daft not to use it.

MemberI’m about to get a Mk3 Golf 2.0l 16v (ABF?) engine as part of a deal.
Is this the same basic unit as the Toledo one?
I really fancy something similar to your conversion and wonder how hard converting my RHD Syncro would be.
Also which suspension are you using? My shocks and springs are about ready and a definitive replacement would be welcome.

Participantthey are exactly the same engine. how hard it is to fit really depends on how you feel about makeing an exhaust pippe.
mine has spax psx dampers on the frount with eibach springs and spax rsx coilovers on the rear

MemberThanks for that Danny.
I will do the brakes, bearings, suspension first I think – that extra power needs to be properly directed right [
]Any tips with the wiring? I’ll get an auto-electrician mate on the job but pointers would be invaluable.

So when it comes to LHD cars it’s easiest to modify a Rallye manifold?

Participanti would think that would be quite easy to adjust to fit the 16v head. iirc there was a company that would do lhd 16v manifolds
