MemberA friend of mine who runs a stainless steel fabrication business is making up some tank straps for my Syncro using my old ones as a pattern.
Don’t know the price yet and have no pics as he was doing them today.
Is anyone else interested in a pair?
He is also having a look at making up heatshields.Again he has my 4 factory ones as a pattern.January 3, 2011 at 8:47 pm #8074mk21147

MemberThe first batch of these is now made and they are superb.Pics to follow shortly.£30 plus p&p which should not be more than a fiver I wouldn’t have thought.
Also planning to do Mk2 fwd,Corrado and Mk1 tank straps.
And possibly sump guards too in stainless if there is enough interest.January 19, 2011 at 1:21 am #8129ld50

That compares quite favourably with the original VW price before they were dropped without replacement. [

MemberHere are the pics as promised.
The stainless straps are shown alongside my original ones.
You can see that the original shape has been reproduced. The thickness of one end is easily replicated by fitting a washer.
These may have to be sent out flat but you can easily shape them by hand using your originals as a pattern or as you fit them.
If this was a problem then they can be sent bent but will require a little more packaging.Postage prices tomorrow.
