    Update.

    The cars has now passed the MOT.
    Last MOT was 2006 and since then has been not moving.
    So i have rescued the Jetta Syncro from the scrappers.

    Not much winter but some skids and powerslides i have made.
    Just waiting for the real snow now so ia can go out sliding!

    Next up is the Golf VR6 Syncro.
    The Golf have a broken beem for the engine.

    Have worked on the Jetta.
    MOT coming up in about two weeks.

    Tested the syncrodrive.
    Visco works just fine.

    Sorted all lights on the car.
    Need som more lightbulbs and parkinglights.

    Need to check the cooling.
    Loosing water thru the engine.
    Not water in the oil , no leek under car.
    So i believe its waporisning thru the catalysator.

    Wintertires on.
    Freesing at night now.

    Now i have tested the visco just like the test says.
    Lifted the front and got going , the visco engaged and the car got going forward.

    Soo the visco seams to work just fine.
    Could not test the reardiff in the axle.
    Too much grip and too little power with only 98hp.
    Even on mudd the car just spun the fronts then gripped and away.
    Need to try on really wet grass to get the slide on [:D]

    Ok , well sorry then for the inconvenience.
    I may have other things to do to but i am not rude anyways [:(]
    I understand that people have other things to do.
    I just answered my self and the thred here.

    Anyways.
    Hops its ok with questions and some info.
    Well with an open diff there is not for surtain that both wheels will turn at the same time. The power will go to the wheel with least resitance.

    When asked the question to the local VW workshop the answer was the same. They ran some Rallyes at the time that it was racing. The boss there raced for the Audi Sweden team and both works Lancia and Toyota in rallying(). The shame is that he could not get the exact info from data and paperprints. Thats why i ask here to.

    Its not unusual that only one wheel will turn IF the rearaxle is lifted and no wheel has any resistance.

    I will have to try both the VR6 and the Jetta i think.

    They are there.
    I could not post a link for some reason?
    But now they are not avalible at the moment.
    Out of stock it says.

    Search for kardanwelle or zwischenlager.
    You will see the items , i can see them.

    But i am sorry to says that they seam to be out of stock for the moment. Hope that the items get back in listing again.

    I have a complete set of extra doors for both cars.
    The Mk 3 Golf doors i have gone at with my angelgrinder.
    Now there is about 10-15kg of every door.
    Should make good for the total weights.

    Looking to save about 50kg total just from the doors.

    Does anyone know where to get actual knowledge about the rallycars rearaxles?

    I really need to get som info about the part that was used to replace the viscodiff when rallying on gravel , ice and mud. The part was used on slippery surfaces.

    Hmm , no answere.
    Then i have to do it myself.

    The rear diff is a regular “open” diff.
    Just like any normal car that drives the rearwheels.
    So with no “breaking” by a diff the power gets to the wheel by the open diff.

    Both of them can be bought from VW Classic Parts.
    As they are listed for now anyways.

    I now actually have replaced my propshaftbearings with BMW E30:s bearings.

    The fit is NOT!
    You have to rebuild the whole holder.
    Then the bearing sits a little bit to low.
    But i made it fit in the end with just a couple mm off.

    Nothing to recomend to them that can’t weld or make stuff by hand [:D]

    I think i will do it again.
    But may as well buy some OEM just for the sake of it.
    They are listed att VW Classic Parts anyways.

    But the wheel spins totaly FREE by hand if i take my hand and spinn it. Then there is no handbrake thats catching the movement?

    Should BOTH the backwheels spinn when visco is engaged?

    The reardiff is the “open” typ right?
    Then there is nothing stopping the car from “onewheeling” when lifted?

    Having just taken the prop apart…..
    But before that, i tried to turn the prop to release all cv-bolts.
    Did not turn how the F*** i did , the prop refused to turn by hand.
    But with the engine on and in a gear when it went all right.

    Yeah yeah [:D]

    The Golf VR6-Syncro was OK to turn by hand.
    On that one the wheel went round easy , either by turning the wheels OR by hand on the front hardy. But on the Jetta cheepsyncro i got to get up from under the car and bloody start, run around and repeat.
    This is to get around to loosening all bolts on the cv-joints.

    Then another problem, only one rear wheel spins when the visco connecting?? The left hacks and spins a bit sometime in the beginning but then stopps.
    What’s the problem here?

    Last winter before i took it out of traffic it went fine, took off well on all fours and skidded on both backwheels then.

    Not much related to propshaftbearings??

    Have you all changed the propbearing and rubbermount?
    Anyways i have now made a buy for some parts and hope they fit.
    They should be a straight change from the original parts.
