Hi, i could do with a bit of help with this subject.

I’m building a TT 3.2VR dsg rallye, been going on for quite a while now but she’s getting there. I am using haldex and have converted my rallye beam to accept it.

I have now come to the drive shafts. I have stripped down the TT 3.2 rears and the rallye rears. When i compare the two the outer cv ends (wheel side) are identical, so i cant understand why they are cut down to leave the 2.5mm end or why you would need to run them without the spring or thrust washers? Is it so that when you run without the washers the drive shaft can travel further into the cv without hitting anything inside? Thus giving more room for the other cv to travel?

The inner cv end (haldex side) is slightly different but if i leave off the splined spring washer as i have heard somebody on vortex do it fits. Is that what the bit of machining is for so that you can retain the spring washer?

    Many thanks for any help

    Patrick
