I asked this guy to put some more photos on, and he did:

Now for the Stupid Question – is that actually a PB GTI engine? That looks exactly like my previous, normal syncro engine bay looked… probably being stupid!
philb115ParticipantFirst one was the one I’d seen, located in watford… Did you notice it’s comedically lacking a steering wheel in one of the pics? I hope it’s included []
philb115Participant*bump*
…I’m back in the game! Currently digging around ebay, but looking for something as above… Have seen a syncro on ebay around watford area – that anyone on here?
philb115ParticipantIt’s the ’89 (well, ’88 really) spec, with the hazard switch on the dash.
philb115ParticipantStill available. Looking for £400-500. Will throw in a set of roofracks too! Email me – philb115@hotmail.com – for more info.
philb115ParticipantThis is defo available. Mail with any offers. Looking to sell this soonish.
philb115ParticipantMe either, maybe we should have more confidence in our machines!!
philb115Participantaaaaaaweeeeeeeeeeeeeesssoooooooommmeeee gotta find me a field to play in! []
philb115Participantyeah mine seems to like just over 120mph… kinda surprised me when i floored it to see what it was! wonder if that really is how fast its going… have to find someone with a new car and GPS to test it i guess…
philb115ParticipantI’d love to do a lap or two…. depends on time and money constraints tho! Also ye olde syncro is completely standard… would be interesting! Does anyone know what the top speed for a syncro is supposed to be?
Actually, my girlfriend has been working on the bugatti veyron, maybe we can convince them to let us play with it?! The one they have has golf clocks in it, so its at least part golf….. []
philb115ParticipantHi I’m phil from deepest darkest somerset – just bought a 1988 RHD 1.8 carb VW golf Mk2 5 dr syncro, very good condition, 80k miles, about two inches thick of history and paperwork, even the original brochures from the dealer – originally sold new in berkshire – i paid £450….methinks not bad…what do you think? i’ve already put new tyres on it (P6000s as it came with P600s) replaced the windscreen (it was cracked). It has a dent in the drivers side wing which has been filled, so i’m gonna replace that too. Trying to keep it fairly original…interior is immaculate, not a rip or a tear anywhere apart from the leather(ish) handbrake cover.
Ok so gotta stop going on…
My problem is that i cant seem to stop it overrunning! it does it every time, no matter wht i do…ive checked the cut off valve, changed the idle speed, changed the mixture…its running on the right type of fuel…any ideas? i’m gonna have to give up and take it to a garage soon! []
