I have posted a link on my car build page for a site that shows how to dismantle and clean R1 carbs, also goes into tuning and installing, it is good to follow with plenty of pics.

The link is just next to the pics of my carbs

Cheers for the info Chris[:D] and the links.
Have you or anyone else bought much of German ebay before?

This was last nights job, take my carbs apart into lots of little fiddly bits and clean, still some cleaning to be done, but looking a lot better already.

This is a link to a page I found that guides you through cleaning and tuneing the R1 carbs, very useful!

A few more pics of how everything is going now that I have nearly finished painting the car at last!!!
I am reasonably happy with the overall finish of the car, there is the odd spec of dust and a bit of orange peel, but overall not to bad for a first time effort I think

How things change, out of the window with the G60 idea, far to pricey!
I have bought/acquired of my brother a nicely re-con’d 2.0 ABF 16v engine. I have also bought a set of R1 carbs with a inlet manifold, and a MegaJolt system.

I am hopeing to crack on and at least get the engine in the bay over Christmas. The spraying of the car has taken a lot more of my patience than I was hoping for, but its something i have never attempted before, and now all the hard work seems to be worth it! The Alpine white looks nice and fresh, the roof I am not so happy about, that has been done Matt Black, there are a few reactions, but it will do for now, I have a new plan for that but will have to see have things go!

I will take some pictures later and post them of my progress and what parts I have been buying.

Does anyone have any ideas what the best solution for the exhaust is? I am leaving the rod change box in for the moment as I cant really afford a 02c box yet, will my 16v manifold mate up with my existing syncro downpipe?

    Thanks Dannyp,
Is this set-up something you have run before, or something similar?
Did you find the MegaJolt system straight forward enough to set up?
Ow and Lastly I should be fine to use the TPS that is factory fit on the carbs?

in reply to: ABF with R1 carb help #6493

Right, well have decided to go down the Megajolt route, Is there anyone who has this system set up on there car with carbs?
If so are using it with a throttle position sensor, or with a vacuum across the inlet manifold?

Did you buy this from near Durham somewhere? One with the leather interior?

Thanks for the info, have a lot better idea of what is required now!

you may also want to upgrade your brakes & suspension to cope with the extra power.

I have some FK coilovers on there now which have made a world of difference to the handling, along with some black diamond disks and pads from off a mk2 16v on the front which helps with the stopping!

Do all the G60 engines have the right bolt holes for mounting the transfer box on? Or is it specific to certain engine codes?

in reply to: TSW Omega’s #5654

Thanks for offering to have a look, but I have sourced some wheels now.
    Cheers

in reply to: TSW Omega’s #5548

My goodness there are some truely f**king terrible messes on the that website!
Anyway more to the point you dont’t know where I may find myself some wheels?

in reply to: TSW Omega’s #5547

the pictures from wheel whores, Obviously I want nothing like that from the vehicle side of things, but I kinda like the look of the rims! maybe not with black centres though

in reply to: TSW Omega’s #5544

    They are 15’s
Ideally I would like to refurb them and have them looking something like these, something a little different I thought, should go with my white car anyway

But a. I need to find one and b. I should probably concentrate on finishing the prep work on my syncro shell and spray that first!

Have now sold the car for a rather depressing £1500, but if I have done my sums right this leaves me with about £500 to get the old syncro back on the road! Yeah!
