Shame it is such a long way away from darn sarf!
Hungry_Horse_1955MemberAre we talking about a bonded in screen here? Or was that the 16V G60 Syncro?
If it is the bonded in window, I am sure that I heard somewhere that the Mk3 Golf used a slightly modified Mk2 shell. If this is true, would a Mk3 screen fit as I believe the Mk3 was a bonded in screen.
However I am probably totally wrong!!!!!
Hungry_Horse_1955MemberAccording to my Golf Handbook, it was fitted to Golf Syncros!
Hungry_Horse_1955MemberYou could try getting hold of a ‘So wird’s gemacht’, by HR Etzold, on the Mk2 Golf. This covers all Mk2 Golfs but is in German!!! You can always use the free translation software on the internet.
I’ve also noticed that the line drawings are very similar to those in the Haynes manual!
Alternatively you could get hold of the manufacturer’s workshop manual, if they exist.

Hungry_Horse_1955MemberRight, I’ve found a couple of Country’s in Germany that I think may be suitable, but… ( and this is a big but) … how do I go about finding the right one?
The few that I have seen are spread all over Germany and will take a week, or more, to go and see them, without the problem of my complete lack of German!!!!
Does anyone have any advice for someone undertaking this task for the very first time? How do I ask about Service History, cam belt change, etc.? How do go about doing an insurance check on a vehicle as I believe they don’t keep their registration numbers between owners? Are there any internet sites that I can do this sort of check on German vehicles?
And then… How easy is it to import a vehicle into the UK? Any pitfalls I need to look out for?
I see that I might just have to fork out up to Euro5000 on a vehicle that I have only seen in pictures. Looks like I’ll have to suck it and see[]
Hungry_Horse_1955MemberI was just moaning about the fact that the advert did not make it clear that it was no longer equipped with a supercharger. It was only apparent if you knew that a 1.8t was in fact a different engine.
I know you should make sure before you buy, it wasn’t exactly clear and I wonder how many of the bidders twigged?
Hungry_Horse_1955MemberI enquired about this one, but although it might have originally been a G60, it is now a 1.8 turbo, although if you don’t look at the advert carefully you can easily miss it[]
Any one got a Country Chrom Edition for sale?
