HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH It keeps getting better. SO I now know that I have a burnt valve in the #4 CL. This was dumping raw petrol into my spanking new CAT. YAY! (sigh) Also unbeknownst to me for that last 3 years that i have been waiting for this to all be finished. I am now being informed that my car WILL have to run on a 4 wheel Dyno before the EPA signs off on it. FURTHERMORE. this mean that my nasty little broken front transfer case will need to be fixed prior to me getting my car back.. SO! lets sum some thing up here. I’m looking at a $1300 head job for parts und labor, due to a complete head rebuild (i haven’t asked to much about it but I’m pretty sure I’m being screwed). Second, now the task of taking my time and working on the syncro system myself is now gone. (sigh again) Oh well. This project is going to take much more time I’m sure. I will continue to keep you all updated as i source new/rebuilt parts and get closer to bringing the old girl home… someday[:(]

Well, here is the meat of it, My importer called me last week and said ” we have tried to lean out the engine as much as possible and its way overloaded on fuel”. So now that the new exhaust is on and the O2 sensor hooked up, now its running way to rich to pass the EPA testing. I’m having them check the size of the G60 pulley to see if it is running over stock pulley and then they are going to open the ECU to confirm if it has been chipped before. (like I said before, I’m still learning the ins and outs of this car. it was mangled before i bought it and i have the soul searching task of nursing it back to health)

    Sorry here are my details
    Owner: Jonathan Thompson
    Location: currently, Atlanta, GA, USA
    Model: Golf Rallye
    Year:1989
    Motor: 1H G60
    lhd
Extras: i’m not exactly sure. The **** that I bought it from did some odd things to it that I am in the process of undoing, but I do know thier is a cam in it. Havent even researched it to know which on though, and he said it had an ECU updrage and that the charger had been gone through by Jabbasport, but i dont know id I belive any of it, It pulls hard.
    Estimated bhp: 160-195 maybe
    Brakes: Stock
Suspension: rubbish stock with I think clipped springs…lol sad huh, rides like junk right now
g/box drivetrain: I belive its an O2C box, of course its syncro
    Bodywork:Factory
Other:??? shoddy wheels and some scratches and dings from being in storage for 10 years before I bought it.
Future plans: here is the money. . . Ground up dent and body work clean up, Alpine White Paint, unpainted side mirrors and badgeless grill, french yellow rallye lights. clear front signals, hella 2 tone clear/red tails, Audi 90 door latches (unpainted, black), pop-out rear windows,BBS RSs magnisium colored centers w/ polished lips and bolts 8×16 all the way around, romove all the tint from the windows and clean or replace all glass and seals to stock. Interior: replace the worn rallye dash with a better condition one. black light weight front and rear door cards from a Golf 2 CL. (no trays or speaker mounts) 2x new front seats( undecided) have stock rear bench trimed to match.(dont worry i dont have rallye interior in there right now, so i wont be butchering any rare parts) other than that factory interior restoration. Engine: work the G60 back to a warmed over factory condition, along with cleaning up the poor wiring harness. but i will latter be swaping a pre-drive by wire 20v T into it after I strengthen the syncro a bit, as for the brakes and susp, powerflex bushings all around, AVO coilovers( first on the list after I get a new Tbox) and i havent really looked to much at brake kits but i’m sure they will end up being some sort od momo block 4 pot setup. . . and thats the gist of the whole operation. of and nothing flashy on the exhaust, simple dual outlet 63mm kit from G-werks
