CokkeliParticipant
yes, this helps a lot.
CokkeliParticipantok. take those pictures.
CokkeliParticipantWhere could i buy new inserts? Can you tell me all the specs for new inserts and locking washers, as i dont know how they should look. Do you think that professional machiner could fix this?
This is not so important cause this vc is spare which came with car.CokkeliParticipantCokkeliParticipantChris s: Ok, i got to believe you. I’m going to check that did he mean something else. Thank you again.

Originally posted by AdemaxxIf you can’t see inside your coupling then your inserts are still in there!, try to remove the locking washer from the top, then use some sort of bolt extractor to remove the insert, I shall take some pictures on the weekend if you find it hard to understand what I mean.
I understood what you wrote. Dont have take pictures. Thank you.
CokkeliParticipantNo i cant
CokkeliParticipantChris S: Vagcat shows that there is vacuum unit in distributor. 1991 model.
Ademaxx: that looks just like my VC but with the difference of my thread inserts look like broken helicoils
CokkeliParticipantNice car. I didnt know that there has been optional height adjustable steering column and height adjustable lights.
CokkeliParticipantThe 1P engine should have the non vacuum advance distributer fitted,
if the vacuum advance has been connected up to the manifold? you will need to block the vacuum pipe up when you remove it.
[/quote]Ok. thank you. where would i be without this forum. [].
So how does it adjust timing then? Can you tell me differences of 1P and PF timing adjustment system?
As i said i have one mechanic friend doing this engine swap, becouse i dont have space for that, neither knowledge enough. And Hes not familiar with this car. So will see where are we going with this.

yes those three threads. Thanks for advice.
CokkeliParticipantOk. Now i got new problem with this new engine. Spark ignition distributor is some how different than that on old 1p engine which controls timing advance with Suction/air pressure and this PF uses different method (electrical?). My mechanic said he can change those like bolt-on.
Oh yes, there was one cracked bolt “hole/lug” in that angle drive. I hope it works with rest which are intact.
Its quite hard to write here when you dont know the English technical vocabulary, but hope you understand.
Dont worry, your English is far better than my Finnish would be! [] Chris S
CokkeliParticipantLooks interesting, maybe i try that. Thank you.
CokkeliParticipantYes i know that, but 2 of those has broken so fitting new ones migth not work anymore. I think it would be better to let someone else with better knowledge to check those threads.
Btw. that broken engine had a quite large amount of metal particles in oil sump. Oil pump had failed.
CokkeliParticipantI dont know it yet. It looks like someone has tried to repair it with helicoil style threads so it might be hard to fix so it would be a lasting repair.
But to start from somwhere, how to take it apart of rear differential?
