Has anyone tried replacing these? I have bought a pair to replace my rotted out ones but the garage is saying its a nightmare job. Bolts possibly seized/likely to snap, etc.

Just to update everyone. I got my existing plates welded up to get through the Mot and time was tight because we were setting off for Crete in 2 weeks. Anyway the car got us and a caravan here OK. I went to the nearest “Drakos” (Breakers) and asked about local garages who specialised in VW’s and there was one nearby. The mechanic was brilliant and I hung round whilst he did the job. He only had major problems with one bolt because the head was rusted off. His solution was to Weld a bigger bolt onto it and off it came. They charged me half what I would have paid in the UK too. Been here 5 months now and the Country is now registered with Greek plates.
