Well, might aswell post here too
My name is Dan, i’m 25 years old, from norway (so, please excuse my horrible english), and just got myself a 1990 Golf GT Syncro with the 1P engine with a whopping 98Bhp :p
**specs**
ABS brakes
Sunroof
MFA
Electric side mirrors
Elecrically adjustable headlights
plans for my syncro is to get license plates on it, as those are taken of due to failed MOT (EU control) as we call it here in the freezing north.
To get it trough the MOT I need new bushings on the propshaft and a new exhaust because multiple leaks and a missing cat
its not exactly a gem, but with some time and tlc, it might get better
future plans after i’ve got it through the MOT is a engine conversion, got a 9A from a passat that i want to replace the 1P with. along with a new driveline, cableshift tranny and the works, rear disc brakes etc
got some crappy pics of it when I first got it too
enjoy (if its anything to enjoy)

Hello everyone. My name is Trevor from Donegal in Ireland. Bit of a car nut particularly vw and Fiat. Owned two polos, one 1.3 mk2 golf and a mk2 gti the past. My syncro is a red 5dr(faded of course) fitted with a G60 engine mated to a rod 020 gearbox. Body very good but alot of minor problems to sort out. Anyway just like to say, great forum and wealth of knowledge. Cheers Trev
HI! I’m Todd and I live in Nova Scotia Canada. Just finishing up a 90 Corrado that I coverted to syncro using a 92 passat. Lots of reading on this site! Thanks for havin me aboard!
Hell All; I am in the process of converting my 1995 Golf to AWD.
I took a 1991 Passat Syncro and put all the running gear in my Golf. I strengthened the rear Pick-up points for the suspension from the syncro.
I am running a 9A 16V Turbo Intercooled and on Propane, Propane here in B.C Canada is about $.47 cents a litre.
The Intercooler is going to be mounted ontop of the engine somewhat like a Subaru WRX to minimize the lag time for the turbo to spool up. G60 Brakes, rear disks and a 10 point roll cage to help strengthen the chassis.
I like designing my own ideas for this car and soon it will be done.
Thanks to everyone that has provided invaluable information. Cheers..Mike
Hi from Finland! a -90 Passat G60 wagon owner introducing. A have the car as a daily and hobby. Hopefully here I’ll find info haven’t found elsewhere..
Hi, I’m Johan from Sweden. I have a Golf VR6 (2.9) syncro from -96 and Corrado G60 -91. Came here ’cause I know nothing of the syncro on my golf, and like the intro said, there is a huge lack of info about it on the web
My big dream is to somewhere in the future either convert my Corrado G60 to VR6 or just get a Corrado VR6 (more likely), and somehow fit a haldex system on it. Having a Corrado awd would be pretty neat, and I seriously doubt there are many of those around.
Well I came here for some info, and I’ll just go ahead and browse around then
hi i am tyler i have a 1990 syncro red i need some help with it i tryin to find the front part of the exhaust but cant find anywere that makes it any ideas ?
Do you mean the downpipe? as LD50 may have one of those lying about.
i’ve got both the downpipe and the cat lying around, which i don’t need
As he is from the UK I think he wants the right hand drive type?
is there a difference on the manifolds and exhaust on the lhd and rhd models?
Yes, the manifold & downpipe are different.
