Jetta GTX 16V Syncro
MemberI’ve had this Jetta for 17 years, I completely restored the exterior in 2012, that build thread is here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5652224
About a year ago I got a Passat W8 Sport 4motion and absolutely love it. I was going to sell the Jetta or give it to my younger brother but recently I started SCCA Solo Autocross and decided to build my Jetta to race instead of the Passat. The AWD of the Passat convinced me to Syncro the Jetta with a BBM/G60 for the 16V to come next. Basically the car will become like a Golf Limited but with a trunk.
So, here we go, I bought a 1992 Passat Syncro in Canada for the drivetrain (everything is the same except the rear axle carrier mounts and the center driveshaft) and I bought a 1990 Golf Syncro in Germany for the fuel tank, trunk panel and center tunnel. This is over $4,000 so far, the shipping is killer.
Here are the parts I have so far. I don’t have a garage or shop (yet) so this will be a long project. I have to learn how to weld too. I’ll post updates as I go, this will be the build thread. When I’m finished with the Syncro conversion I’ll start another build thread for the 9A 2.0 16V G60 that I’ll do next. I want, in the end, an all wheel drive Jetta with about 300hp from the 16V with G60 supercharger.
