From Jason Smith
Hi all. Just found your site and just thought I’d say hello and give a little history into my car. It’s a 3 door G60 syncro which I bought a couple of years ago. Had to get a few things sorted within a few months of getting it. It’s had,
New ABS sensor
2 CV joints
New disks and pads
Charger rebuild
Chip and pully
New stainless exhaust with 4-branch manifold
New power steering pump with most of the hoses changed as well
New suspension
Loads of other bits that I can’t remember!!
It’s the best VW I’ve owned and I love driving it. Corners, what corners? Even in the wet it’s just fantastic!! It’s now got about enough power to spin the fronts a little, in the wet!! (208 BHP),Jason
An add on for the above bit. Back in May me and a few mates fitted a 20v along with the supercharger. We’ve nearly got it all running properly now. Had a custom chip made a couple of weeks back and we now have full revs. Before it would only get to 5000rpm in 3rd 4th and 5th. We’re going for 7200ish rpm now. It was in a group thrash in PVW in November if anyone wants to see my ugly mug!!
Just noticed that I’ve never put any pics of my car on here!!!
Here’s a quick history of ownership. Please enjoy!!
sweet motor – tis a joy to behold and nice and stealthy too
I had a new custom inlet made by a friend of mine. First ever attempt at this!!
Taking the old manifold out
Look at the crack!!! (And the chemical metal!!!)
Old against new
New manifold nearly ready to go on
It’s now on the car and we’re gonna do a little shakedown but all is looking and sounding good!!
It’s a cracking fit and I’m over the moon with it!!
LOVE this car, if it’s the one I think it is – I saw it when I was with DannyP. It has bhp I can only dream of at the moment!
Thaks for the positive reply Diamond Hell!! Got to get the timing sorted. Managed to very nearly snap my timing belt, but the local garage aint set it back up right I reckon, so off to G-Werks for a check up!! Fingers crossed it’ll be a mover once again!!
My mate decided that he had to take some pics of my car. Who was I to stand in his way? Here’s a few. He’s got a few more to sort through.
lovely car
I want it!
btw where did you get the air filter box top cover from?
Still needs loads of work but collecting the spares I need. Still got the transfer box I got off you Chris ages ago. Got a spare rear diff with all new bits to go in it plus I now have a spare lower mileage gearbox (85,000ish miles compared to my 165,000 miles!!).
Also finally had the car re mapped last week – only took me 4 years to sort out!!! lol!! Brilliant differance to the drive. Very smooth and can be driven really well slow or fast!!
Chris – The air box is from SWG. Looks pretty good to me and hopefully adds its little bit to the power party!!

Thats great news, I know someone who has been looking for one of those air box tops for a long time, dont I, eh Pascal. [:p]
I think I might have said this once before, but I find it ever so odd that another G60 Syncro should have a number plate ending “NRD” just like mine does.
Hi,
Well to be honest… i like the novelty of the product.
Only there’s one catch… lubrication of the charger.
Vw did a stunning job of getting everything ‘recycled’.
For emissions that was a good thing. Now we have a charger
which is having no return oil sump breather and warm boosted
air return. The first is negative, especially with old model
chargers which incorporate the old apex seals that have bronze into
them, mixed with teflon. You will then get a worn out scroll/displacer within 3-4 months… because of the non-lube situation. I’m told by a very well known tuner/overhauler over here… so i’ll take his knowledge for granted . The newer apex seals are completely of plastics, and also wear out quicker with the non-lube situation… i’d think i’d inform you….. Warned people can make their mind up abouth ‘tuning-measurements)
There is a solution. reroute the carterbreather from the top of the
cyl.head.cover with a t-piece into the 2nd intakepipe. This ensures a
bit of lube, and is not harmfull at all, since it’s also originally introduced into the 2nd inlet.
Have a nice day, and check that charger once a while. If not sure, i
can help out…
Greetings,
Pascal
Emm.. Jason… Be sure Gwerks put GOOD materials into your charger… i’ve found lots of unwanted inferiour stuff in Mark White’s charger a few months ago..
He had his charger also been overhauled by them… of pitstop dev…. (they work together)
One oilseal was almost popping out… Luckily Mark was still on a original pulley so no big oil pressure-burst pushed it out. I opened up Mark’s charger when he was at my
place previous year… a very nice visit, and a supurb running car afterwards…
B.t.w. who did your mapping ?? I saw there is a 20V under the hood… nice !!!! only is it also cam-adjusted via the ecu ? (thats 15-20 bhp gain) over here we also had
such a project… with a g-charger+GT35 TURBO… Dutch master JD was at work on this one (his buddy Roy Koenen got a special treatment from JD on the rollers … (owner of this blue piece of engineering… JD-Engineer !)
