Took out the oil pan Tuesday night, and managed to break EVERY SINGLE ENGINE MOUNT in the process…
Really stupid how it happened too….raised sidewalk in the middle of 2 parking spaces…
Well, I forgot it was there for a minute…
Trans Mount:
Front Mount:
Passenger Side Mount:
Knocked the engine up so high, that my air filter smashed into the rain tray….
Anybody have a set of MKII engine mounts laying around? I’m pretty sure that the front and side mounts are standard Golf II bits, but the tranny mount looks like it could be Syncro specific…
The rear engine mount is also Syncro specific, unfortunately it looks like the front mount has broken the lug of the gearbox bellhousing as well you will need to get this welded on again or replace the bellhousing (or gearbox)
The rear engine mount(console) p/n 191199354F is available new from http://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de & costs 23,50 eu
The rear gearbox mount (console) p/n 191199353E is available new from VW dealer & costs 40 euro
You should be able to find a gearbox on ebay.de

ouch that’s harsh! blimey did you hit it at any speed? looks quite dramatic
That’s the most impressive breakage I’ve seen in a while actually.
/me revives plans for underbody reinforcement.
Thanks for the info, Chris. I haven’t given up on her yet! I love my Syncro, and it will take more than a busted trans to make me scrap her!
It’s going to end up costing me more than I have at the moment to replace all that I’ve broken, so she will have to sit in the garage until I can buy all the parts, but rest assured, she WILL see the road again.
im selling a full set of new polyurethane bushes that fit a syncro. Have a look in my build thread. I inherited a set of uprated vibrasomethingorother bushes on my Country project so ill be using them instead. pm me if they are any use
I’ve noticed that my front mount is different from the typical Golf II bit, since my starter is broken anyway, would it be possible to use a standard Golf II late front motor mount, with the late style starter?
