Finally got my hands on a Syncro. Had been looking for a decent 5 door for ages then out of the blue this 3 door with converted floor pan pops up. so few PMs later and i’m the new owner of the syncro that Stanton did very little with.
So got a few pics once we had man handled it on to the drive.
got no sunroof, no windscreen and no passenger side window.
the rear drums are seized, all the shocks and springs are mishmash. But none of that matters as the floor pan conversion is spot on.
Just in the process of getting the running gear together so i can get it rolling and get it in the garage to start on the body work.
To get it rolling just need to get hold of the VR6 syncro rear trailing arms, and front hubs.
And a VR6 complete front subframe.
Will be some updates when this starts to piece together.
Few minor Updates.
Mainly in the form of pics.
All drivetrain and subframes removed. Very tidy looking under carriage
Interior floorpan
Front subframe off
Scuttle removed.
Rusty Battery Tray and new one.
Took arms off rear beam ready to fit Rallye ones with TT hubs next week.
Rallye Fuel tank
02M Box
Cover to stop some of the rain getting in til i can get a windscreen in.
Pics of all new bits.
TT hubs
Rallye Trailings arms
Trail fitted TT hub
Load of Driveshafts.
4 Motion CV’s and rallye bearings
Haldex Rear Diff
Little progress made. got the bearings and hubs all pressed together nicely. no problems at all.
and pickup a mk3 front subframe with wishbones and hubs and ABS sensors.
Todays Progress
Sprayed the subframe and wishbones with Hamerite and ten bolted up to the car.
blimey you have been busy! floor looks to be in decent shape too – nice find
pretty sure the floor was converted using all new panels from VW, something like 1800quid for the panels alone apperently.
is that mk2 wishbones with plus axle bottom ball joint?
the ball joint is mk3 vr6, i had to file it out a little to make it fit the mk2 wishbone
yea, mk3 vr6 = plus axle
didn’t think it worked – keep us updated on this one!
yea your right in the fact that it doesn’t bolt straight up. other than that is there something else you can tell me that doesn’t work?
cool! good to see some more pics
Why the TT hubs and why remove the scuttle?
TT hubs to make TT rear brakes a tiny bit easier to fit, have a bracket made up to run 280mm vented disks on the back.
and the scuttle was already removed when i picked the car up but in fact it will probably make my life a little easier fiting the GT3071r in that tight little space.
Looking good!
Any progress lately?
