Just a quick note to say thanks I have just joined the site but have been reading the notes for some time.
Some two to three years years ago I bought my sisters one owner 1989 VW Syncro it looked tired and she was offered little more than scrap on a trade in.
I have tried to return it nearer to orriginal condition. The rusty rear doors and boot lid have been replaced as have the steel wheels (with BBS alloys). The heater now works, new blower and other bits. It start first time having had the radio wiring sorted, no more flat battery.
Following advice in your forum the carb is now a webber so it holds the tick over and goes a little better.
