its been a while but we`ve come to the conclusion that a 02A/C/J transfer box in any form, can`t take more than 450ft of torque, no matter of bracing will save it [:D][8D][:(]

so what is the plan from the man with all the torque?

going to try 02m in the mk1, rebuild one with a nice clutch, everything about the 02m is bigger looks stronger, but again still has the same weak points, as everything stronger and larger around it it should last longer

and this no1 transfer box, you can see the difference how much the larger bracket gave the transfer box a bit more of a chance[:I]

now you can see y i wanted to look in to the rallye casing chris, unfortunatley it won`t work, the offset on the prop side of casing is different

I noticed that both transfer boxes are alloy, would the iron one be any better?.
BTW how does the VC unit fair with this level of torque?

alloy because its a haldex transfer box not availble in cast iron, the rallye rear diff broke with 300ftlb 4 years ago been on haldex since

so far so good, managed 7 runs at santa pod best time of 12.05 @116mph 60ft 1.77 all on the same boost as last time thats 0.7secs off my last visit with just the 02m gearbox change

it it to the point now where it would be worth getting 5 or 10 mm sheet ali profile cut to fit over the transfer case and tig welded to it to strengthen the caseing ?

say 4 plates even spaced, and then possobly a a few strips of same ali notched out to fit over the plates then welded to to tie the whole things together big style

arh that given me an idea, could always get a sleeve machined up to slip over the top of the transfer casing, nice tight fit catching all the high points on the casing, shouldn`t be to hard
