Participant8 years later, and all I have is a collection of parts. I think it’s fair to say I’m a dreamer not a doer.
We’re now moving house, and have nowhere to store anything. My wife would quite happily call a scrappie and have them cart the lot away, but I know how rare some of this stuff is and would rather someone find a use for it if possible. I also know that I could sell much of it, but don’t have time or inclination to do so.
So I’m offering the following, free to collector (Bournemouth):
MK2 Golf Syncro RHD – stripped to its shell and sat on my driveway. It has no wheels or running gear so would need to be lifted onto a trailer. It’s been sat on bare tarmac for over 5 years so I don’t know what state the floorpan is in. I have the doors, boot and bonnet, which have been removed. The original engine, gearbox and running gear have long since gone.
V5 4-motion (not sure of age) – Engine, ECU, gearbox and running gear. I bought this as a scrapyard write-off, and had these items stripped out. I also have the 5-stud alloys and interior, but I’m keeping hold of those.
MK2 Golf GTi – Front and rear big bumpers (original). Also (some of?) the interior (rainbow).
Plus tons of plastic, glass, electrics, trim and sundries from the above.
If there’s interest, I’ll clear the Syncro out (it’s full of panels etc), check the floorpan from inside, and take some pictures. One way or another, it will all need to go in the next few weeks.

ParticipantYep, free, gratis, nada. I’d just rather it went somewhere useful rather than the crusher.
Just checked my profile – the email was an old dead one. I’ve updated it but the activation mail hasn’t arrived yet. Will post when it shows up.

Memberit will be going somewhere useful. if I can figure a way of moving the shell I will, but I think it’s unlikely. worst case i have an estate car (definite), better case, estate + trailer. let me check my dates.

ParticipantSo it turns out its a V6 not a V5 (shows how much I’ve done with it!).
Also, it’s been sat in the engine bay, under a car cover. It may be seized up by now. I’ll email you the photos.

Memberno worries, will take it as it is
if i can arrange for the body to get moved i will, but I don’t really fancy the chances to that happening. one estate-audi full of bits.. ideally engine and drivetrain I’ll definitely save tho.March 26, 2016 at 9:31 pm #9163Louis
MemberHi, I’m very interested in the shell and have access to a trailer. Is this still available?

ParticipantHi Louis,
I’m investigating the possibility of a last-minute rescue plan for the project. If this falls through the shell is all yours. Will post when I know more.
