Hi Guys, I would like to install a golf mk2 16v brake pump on my ’87 golf syncro with a GU motor….my brake pump broke down a few days ago and now it don’t brake like before and the pedal is pretty dangerous as it work bad…i’m going to replace it anyway, and as I have in plans to install a upgraded brake system with front g60’s and rear discs, I wonder if the 16v pump fit without trouble on my car…thank you very much!
I’m pretty sure I fitted one to mine – will need to check to be sure but I think they fit as a direct swap, it’s just the body diameter which is a bit different.
Thats absolutely correct, the 16V brake master cylinder is a direct swap on either left or right hand drive, it has a greater internal diameter to push the extra fluid needed for the bigger front & rear calipers.
btw, If you have ABS then a Passat pump will do the same job.
no my car hasn’t abs!
are there any contraindication of using this pump with rear drums, till i change them to rear disc’s?
thank you vey much for the reply!
Its ok, it just makes your pedal feel sharper (less travel)
