ModeratorOn the RH (transfer box) flange there is an external circlip p/n 020 409 297 it sits behind a circular plastic disc (oil seal)on the inside of the drive flange and is removed with circlip pliers.
On the LH flange there is an internal circlip p/n 012 409 413A you can push/punch this drive shaft/flange out from inside when the left hand flange has been removed.

Memberthanks for the reply chris. doesn’t look too hard then. i might not have time to do it though, but it sounds like it could be done with the box in the car.

ParticipantYou should get the circlips and covers with a seal kit, which is available from most third party parts suppliers.
The flanges can take a LOT of pulling off. I would recommend a proper three arm puller to get them off.

Memberthe right hand one came off just fine, as the splines are a little worn. the propshaft flage came off with a little tug. i have yet to tackle the left hand one. apparently i can wind some long m8 bolts in through the flange to push it off the box. tahnks for all the help!

Memberthere’s not really anything to put the middle of the puller on. danny you’re probably right but i don’t want to have to take it off again really. anyway it’s all academic as i don’t think i’m going to get the driveshafts sorted in time. i’ve only got a week left to get the engine in let alone do the cable change conversion. probably going to sell it all on before i go and put it down to experience..
