thanks for the info now after looking at it and then looking around the garage I found the muff piece, let me tell you I fell a little dumb when I found it
toplessvwMemberthis is an 02c box the trans will spin the out shaft of the transfer case with out an issue but the pinion gear shaft in the transfer case and the out put shaft have no direct engaugement. The out put shaft and the pinion gear shaft can turn freely from each other. So what i was wondering if the ring in my pictureI took and the parts I am missing lock the two shafts together so that when the output shaft spin the pinion gear shaft spins as well

so here is the outpput shaft of the tarnsfer case part number 15 and the axle cup how does it turn the pinion gear since the inside of the pinion gear housing is not splined and neither is the shaft do the parts that I am missing tension the shaft and the pinion gear so that the pinion gear turns as the output shaft turns. I was missing parts 23-27 in the upper diagram from my transfer case, and when I pulled the transfer case off I could spin the output shaft but the output flange would not move . I hope my question makes sense
